Benefits & Side Effects

Hello,
I don't know if it is related or not but I have been doing 5:2 for about 3-4 weeks and I keep catching colds/coughs etc like there is no tomorrow. I am not usually so susceptible, just wondering if the IF may have something to do with it, I know it could be anything but just wondered whether anybody else felt like this?

Thanks
I've been careful to take a multivitamin with my fast day meal, and as they've all been largely vegetable based I don't see that I'm at risk of being malnourished. You could think about upping your vitamin C and wrapping up warm until the spring comes :-)
Hope you feel better soon
I've been taking a multi-vitamin and omega-3,6,9 oils every day. Also, I'm following the recipes in the diet book, but due to being obese have upped the calories slightly in accordance with the 25% guidance rule. But not so much "run down", but I have found some days and times (strangely often on feed days) when I feel tired/lacking in get up and go. However, some of my hobbies have since starting 5:2 got up and gone :-)
I take plenty of supplements and I do cook from scratch, I just feel constantly like crap lately. When I feel like this fasting goes out the window, managed one day last week, was meant to do one today but have spent the day sniffling and eating chocolate all day instead. Sigh..

The great thing about 5:2 is it's flexibility, if you need to move or skip a fast day just do it ;-).
I have headaches every day and I'm always tired but apart from that I'm fit as a fiddle! Well, I'm not going down with bugs and stuff at least.
May I recommend Vitamin D to boost your immunity, also cod liver oil for omegas, and probiotic to keep your stomach flora in good shape. Keep warm too!
Keep warm! That's a joke! I spring ever going to come? I always feel colder when I'm fasting, run ut of heating oil and only a few logs left!
I had headaches the first week, but none since. I actually find I have 'more' energy on fast days. Not sure why, but not complaining.
I think it's just the time of year TBH. I've been 5:2ing since the start of Nov and had no colds or illnesses until this month when I had two colds back to back!
This is my third this time, tis ridiculous. Not weighing in this week, been eating mini-eggs all day! Ah well as soon as I am better, I will get straight back on it. Until next time.
You might find that making a big pot of veggie soup makes you feel better than all that chocolate :-)
Dairy products are mucus-forming (yuk!), which is probably the last thing you need when you have a cold. Hope you feel better soon
