Fast day 3

by Aina on 31 May 2013, 11:45

The journey so far has been manageable. Thursday was a non-fast day. I had thought I would get my hunger pangs at the same time but not at all. I had lunch as usual. It was not as healthy as it could be as I had Laksa fried rice. I was stuffed just eating a little of it. Come dinner time, I was supposed to eat left over and I did not manage to eat normally. Just a small amount as I was not that hungry. No space to fill. I forced to eat a small amount of food before bedtime as it’s a fasting day on Friday and I really want it to work and not cave in and sabotage it.

Then there is a matter of moving my ass. I shall admit early on that I am lazy. I love nothing more than play dead on the sofa after dinner. There are times when the kitchen looks like a war zone as I am dead on sofa. I said to myself I have 2 option. I could either do what I usually do and make excuses and stay where I was or I could move. I did not set a distance just a starting route and see what it will bring me. As I started walking, the body was like ok, I can do it. My dog was in doggy heaven and I walked and walked. The first option to turn to my house was avoided and so was the second. I ended up walking for an hour and was slowly sweating in the end.

For those of you familiar to Norway, there is no such thing as a flat walking distance no matter where unless you are walking at Hardangervidda. Anywhere else means even in housing areas its uphill and downhill. So basically I get a variety of elevation and terrain. I started out with roads then in the forest and across the lake and back to normal roads. I could choose to take a route that takes me across the sea but today’s walk it was not in the picture.

Today is a fast day and so far it has been good. The hunger was not as bad as Monday’s or Wednesday’s. It has not been discomforting, only slight empty feeling. The big test would be dinner time as I would be doing BBQ. I made homemade potatoe salad, Satay chicken and fresh salad. I would be dropping the potatoe salad and only eat the chicken (its breast meat) and huge amount of salad.

Later in the evening there would be a closing meet for handball which my son participate. I have decided to walk home from the event instead of coming home and go for a walk. That way there is no taking short cuts as I need to get my ass home and I know dear hubby won’t pick me up unless I have broken anything and need to be driven to the emergency room.

The weekend if nice weather will be filled with boating activities and things like that. Since it’s non fasting days, I will not have to worry about food and eat what and let the worry and fasting start when I am back at work.

I love the idea of walking through the Norwegian forests, across the lake, and to the sea. It's pretty hilly where I live too, but it's all on roads. And then 'later in the evening'... you can walk home because it's still light! Wonderful

I should figure out how to put up pictures. I am lucky to be able to look at what mother nature has to offer while using my body as how she intend us to do.
