Over a year later ...

by Azureblue on 02 Sep 2014, 08:49

Interesting reading that last blog post, obviously my body decided for me as I've not got lower than 69kgs and have mostly been between 70-72kgs ever since.
I eat real food apart from a bought curry for Saturday night these days, and feel better for it. Fasting has taught me many things, not the least being patient, and to be aware of my instinctive needs.
Currently I'm watching my carb and sugar count, carbs up to 80g and sugars up to 25g a day, and see if that keeps a good healthy balance, protein 60-80g a day provided by fish, cheese and chicken.
I've been reading Mark Sisson and Zoe Harcombe and Sarah Wilson for inspiration, their collective wisdom has removed virtually all grains and sugar from my diet, bar gluten free oatcakes and 90% dark chocolate. My recent rye bread encounter will change to eating a few peeled potatoes a week I think, as the dark seasons fold over us and spuds are easy to get :0)
Onward and ever hopeful of a bit more downward but not unhappy with here ...

Finally!

by Azureblue on 28 Jun 2013, 07:53

I have arrived back at 71.0kgs, my pre-holiday lowest weight. It's taken two weeks and I did wonder if I'd ever get here but hurrah!
Now in theory I have another stone to lose to be 'super svelte', and I shall of course carry on fasting, though reading that older ladies should be in the 25-27 BMI range for good health has rather confused the situation.
Should It stay or should it go?

Home from hols with excess baggage

by Azureblue on 16 Jun 2013, 09:12

Weymouth is a lovely town, always something to see on the river or out to sea or up on Portland Bill. The first 3 days were bright and sunny so we were outside all the time. Wednesday rained all day but we made a valiant effort at being tourists then retreated to our holiday flat.
I can recommend Monkey World at Wool, a large selection of happy primates in terrific surroundings. Also Abbotsbury swannery where cygnets were popping out all around us. Corfe Castle takes some climbing, the only way is up and I managed more than I thought to see wonderful views all round.
There's a coffee shop called Stanley in Weymouth where they give you 2 warmed crumbly scones with generous jam and the best clotted cream with tea or coffee that is the pinnacle of the Dorset Cream Tea.
I returned 1kg heavier, having weighed myself this morning (after scaring myself yesterday afternoon with 6lbs up) and the fast kicks in from tonight!

My diet through May ...

by Azureblue on 24 May 2013, 08:02

Thought I'd just share what I have been eating this month as it has produced a steady 1lb a week weight loss.
Fast day:- from 7pm the previous night to 7pm on fast day- no food, drink only sips of tap water, or Dr Stuarts Slimming tea (nothing added), or fennel tea, or peppermint tea. At 7pm eat tin of tuna in spring water with salad of romaine lettuce, 6 cherry tomatoes, 6 radish, 3 good slices of cucumber, 1/2 red pepper, 2 spring onions, followed by 10 small cubes of melon. Before bed I drink a mug of 40 calorie hot chocolate mixed with a very little whole milk, mostly hot water.
Next day is Feed day:- eat breakfast about 8am of Yeo natural yogurt with 2 dessertspoonfuls of Linwoods flaxseed mixed in and drink Pukka green chai tea with a tiny end-of-teaspoon of honey mixed in, followed by a mug of hot water.
Lunch can be anything from a toasted teacake to cheese on toast to scrambled egg with a cup of Moroccan tea, being mindful of the calories consumed to keep within my current TDEE...

Woohoo!

by Azureblue on 30 Apr 2013, 08:17

Yesterday was my first fast back on 5:2 and I am happy to report a 2lbs weight drop and 1.25 inches off my waist after it. I can only conclude that altering my method of eating for two weeks has successfully broken the plateau and I intend to carry on with 5:2 for now. Happy days!
