A very happy one

Day, that is! We have been trying to buy a wood burner for the barn that will be a house for eldest and her husband. Lots more work to do yet but we found a lovely wood burner advertised that is free standing. This solves the problem of fitting in a fireplace as one is not needed. It can stand in front of the chimney wall and we can put in the pipework to take the smoke easily. We first saw this fire last week and decided to go and get it last Wednesday. When checking the stock level before leaving we found it was back up to full price. We could have gone into battle as the ad said the offer was running until 13th October but didn't feel like driving 60 miles for a battle we were sure we could not win.
Then yesterday we discovered it was back at the sale price. This morning we packed up the dogs and a picnic and headed up to Caen. We went to Arromanche and had a lovely cliff top walk above one of the beaches involved in ww2. We then drove to Juno and Gold beaches but did not feel up to going into the war cemetaries. It is unsettling walking around these areas , you cannot help thinking about how it must have been.
We then went to the shop for the fire and bought the last one in stock. When the chap brought it out it was encased in a wooden palette. I had moved the dogs to the back seat leaving the big boot free (we have a big 4x4). The chap thought it funny when he saw Bruno! Probably thought ' no way'.So I took the boys for a walk whilst the boss sorted out the fire. Had to fold the back seats down and put the fire across one of them. Bruno then had to be secured in the other half of the boot. Frank had to come in the front with me. We drove home carefully as we were worried about the fire slipping and hurting Bruno. All was ok though and we arrived home in pouring rain. We have two male friends coming over tomorrow to help hubby with his old Ford Pop, so they will help unload the fire. It is too heavy for me! So a successful day.
No calorie counting but I have been very aware of what I am eating. Portions are smaller again.
Tomorrow I fast again and my plan as usual is to keep out of the house as much as possible to avoid temptation.

In for repair Monday, Wednesday and Friday
