I would never have beleived....

by Bobshouse on 13 May 2014, 06:05

......During my years of weight watchers that I could fast. I was convinced I had to eat every two hours in order to lose weight. I spent hundreds of pounds over the years following the points system and buying weight watchers foods to eke out the points. I knew of women who shaped their whole diet plan with weight watchers foods. To be honest I was scared of feeling hungry. There were often articles in the magazine about 'how to diet without feeling hungry'. My kitchen was a shrine to diet, chemical laden foods. One of the best things about 5:2 is I now only eat real food. Never again will I buy as much as a low fat yogurt. It is the real thing or not at all now. Now in my third week and my binges have just about stopped. Why binge when I can have what I want? I am now finding too I do not need the sweet fatty stuff so much. Don't get me wrong I love a cake with coffee as much as the next person, just not so much. I make my own cakes and used to have a couple of pieces whilst I was making the coffee! I just don't want it now. I enjoy food now, it is no longer the enemy that must be stuffed in in vast quantities in secret! The weight will come off I know, via the scenic route I am sure, but I will get there. This time I will stay wherever I end up because for once in nearly 40 years of dieting, I am in control.

Good for you Bobshouse! I agree with everything you said and I think you're right - people are 'scared' of feeling hungry. What a pity it's just taken me the best part of 50 years to suss this out! Better late than never............:-)
I think there are many of us now who know it is ok to feel hungry. Actually normal to want your next meal!
So agree with both of you. I also noticed when I do eat after waiting to get hungry, I eat more slowly & the food just tastes better! Never in my life thought I would crave a fresh bowl of berries with homemade full fat yogurt! Too many advantages to count - so grateful to have found this WoE.
