Good to hear from you Bobshouse. I have been wondering where you had got to and was worried. Jam making sounds wonderful. We, on the other side of the planet, have been making marmalade.

Life is very hard just now and as always I have turned to food. As you know I have been desperate to move back to England as well as the stress of my father. My eldest daughter and her husband have decided they want to live here too. They are coming over October 1st and staying for two months. This is to work on the barn that will be their home and see how they feel living here. Part of me hopes they will not like it. I am trying to be calm about it all and bevopen minded. It may make a difference to me having them here and I know my younger daughter is very excited at the thought of having her sister living here.
I am trying to focus on the positives.
Our Gite has been totally booked out the whole summer and the last guests will leave three days before my daughter arrives. Throughout the summer hubby has been building a cloakroom in our house as he could not work on the next Gite whilst we had guests. It is nearly finished and will make a difference to my life. It will be the first room finished.
I have had some trauma...the fox took my drake and cockerel. I have missed hearing the morning crowing. All 10 chicks have survived and it looks like I have four boys and six girls. The two older ones are definetly boys and are beginning to crow in a teenage way. I will have to rehome at least two of them, but will wait and see if they fight.
My female ducks seem to be ok without a man so I will leave them as they are for now.
Jam making is about to begin. I have loads of home grown black currants and blackberries in the freezer. I made 12 jars of damson jam recently. I am planning to do bramble jelly. The rosehips are ready too and this year I want to do rosehip jelly. I also plan some lemon curd. That will be my pantry stocked with jam for the next year.
I will try to get back into the swing but just now cannot make any promises.
