Sorry to hear about the ducklings - hopefully in the future? I really feel for you with the situation you have with your dad. Is there some way perhaps you can persuade your siblings to shoulder some of the burden, as it's a heavy load ? Look after yourself x

Really need a fast day

My trip to the UK was very frustrating. I went to sort out my dad but did not really achieve much. Social services have raised the bar on the criteria for taking on an elderly person and my father does not qualify. They will not take him on. His GP despite having a letter from a psycho geriatrician stating my dad has vascular dementia refuses to accept it and will not refer dad for assessment. I have now requested a community care assessment which cannot be refused but it still will not get dad on the social workers books. He qualifies financially which is something I guess. The thing is without a octal worker I cannot get dad into another extra care home so will have to settle for sheltered. It will have to be a place where a manager is permanently on site as dad is not capable of using either a telephone or an alarm system. I want to keep him in the same town as he would not cope with being moved somewhere else. I found lots of sheltered accommodation but only three with live in managers. I have emailed them all but so far had only one reply saying they are full but will put dad on the waiting list. The care staff in dads current place leave on 15th June and cover will be given by agency staff. There will be someone sleeping in over night . It will be constantly different people which will upset him.
Tomorrow we visit the insurance company to start trying to sort out the car. I am fairly sure it is a write off and hope we get the full price for it. The accident was not our fault so it should not cost us anything.
I was pleased to get my dog back and he was pleased to see us. He has stayed close to me all day!
Sadly all the ducklings died. Without me here full time I knew it would happen. Mummy duck just wasn't looking after them.
Life is quite hard at the moment.
