Reflections on weigh day

by Bobshouse on 06 Apr 2013, 07:35

Monthly weigh in today and I have gained a pound! Not good but am not going to worry. I am establishing the fast days now and finding them a bit easier. That can only get better. I am far more in control of what I eat, when I binge, which is getting less often, it is a much smaller amount. I am working on strategies to improve my bad attitude to food and really feel I am enjoying food now. At some point my body will start losing but it is not the be all and end all of this way of life. I am generally happy with how I look.
I have a lot to undo with regard to the attitude I have towards food and I getting there.
My aim for this next month is to listen to my body on feast days, to rid myself of the idea I have to eat when the clock dictates. If I do not feel like eating a meal then I won't, it will not harm me. I will continue working on getting rid of factory made foods but as this a big task am realistic about how long it will take. I have to stock up on basic ingredients to make my own. I already make my own bread and cakes, jams, chutneys, fruit purée and passata. This month I am going to work on the biscuits, have already made flap jacks and Florentines.
I have finally realised I can enjoy food?
Last night we made a last minute decision to go out to the English pub and join in the curry night. It was great, no worry about how many points!

Hi Bobshouse, sorry about your gain. If you're anything like me you will find the fast days much easier to manage than the feed days. I really struggled with it this month, so I've started keeping a blog. It has helped me. I wish there was someone who was on it with me just so that I could have some moral support. Having said that, the family are very supportive and encouraging. I'm glad you're keeping so positive though. If you have your fast day cobbled, it's just a case of reining in the feed days. Well good luck.

Thanks for that. Depression always drives me to eat more. Eating more makes me depressed, bit of a vicious circle but I will get there.
