Stress, Plateaus and Progress

by Carleneruns on 07 Feb 2014, 17:24

So... last week I was working hard to break my plateau. After 2 fast days, my weight was still basically stuck and I was not making new progress. I was disappointed. But that is how plateaus work. At least it was a Friday right?

Went to work and had my performance review. My new boss of 3 months gave me a terrible review for the last year and my stress level went through the roof. Monday I talked to HR and asked them to investigate. I told them my review was unfair and I should not have to put up with this crap. The HR person strongly recommended I go on stress leave. I was quite distraught, so I left the building and haven't been back since. Unfortunately, my family doctor tells me that 'stress leave' is a myth, the insurance people will never approve it, and that I need to go back to work and face my bully. Meanwhile I'm still not sleeping properly, know my blood pressure is elevated and am still having stress-related nausea. Oh joy!

However, I have completed 2 more fast days this week (Mon and Thurs) and this morning finally weighed in at 200 pounds. That was my interim goal. I will admit I really wanted the number to be 199.X but I'll take 200.0. I have now set my next interim goal at 190 pounds. Onward to new territory.

Hugs, Carleneruns. Nasty boss! As for plateaux, I have decided they are a normal element in loosing weight. Your body needs to adjust itself to the new low weight. When you are ready, weight will drop again. Until the next plateau. Take care.
Thanks Sallyo! I appreciate the encouragement. And support regarding the boss stuff. I'm really, really frustrated about my work situation right now. And discouraged. People keep telling me that this is a blessing in disguise. So far I can't see it. Ah well... not much to do except carry on.
