Hometime!

by Debs on 10 Mar 2014, 02:32

Just getting through today before I fly out on r&r and it can't come soon enough. Last swing I was struggling to find things to do, this one I have been run off my feet and am exhausted!
Looking forward to a week of sleeping in and eating nice food!
So ADF hasn't been the success I hoped it had, so much for eat all you want the other days :frown: , it obviously doesn't work like that for some people, i.e. me!

So Plan C, or is it D? Next swing, limited chocolate, only dark 80+%, less sweet goodies from the crib (mess), no refined carbs and lots of good fat, i.e. avocadoes, nuts and tinned fish. I shall treat myself once a week and eat what I want, but other than that I am taking a leaf out of the stubborn Auriga's book, as she is the same height, was the same weight and has wrought miracles on herself! I want to too! And a bit more exercise, well a bit more than none at all to be honest. I was very lazy, there was a little voice telling me that it is 80% diet!

For the last three weeks I have been the only Environmental Advisor on the 344km railway being built and that has meant a hell of a lot of driving, through mostly lovely countryside, but still very tiring. My neck and shoulders have let me know about it as I crash through yet another deep pothole or shudder over ruts. I physically cannot be in three places at once although my manager seems to think I should be!
I pinned up some piccies of New Caledonia on my wall to remind myself of why I am here and why I am fasting. I know there are other benefits but I really would like to look better for a tropical holiday in December. And I need to make room for all those French patisserie too

I just wish the food was a little better here, especially the vegetables and salad. There are bouts of gastro that go through the camp occasionally as so many blokes man hadling the food when they shouldn't be are hard to control. One will drop the tongs into the salad and another will pick them up possibly contaminating the food. Not pretty. Unfortunately this industry attracts more than its fair share of knuckle grazers.

I have also been a little stressed about selling the house and buying another property, we have had several sniffs on the house but nothing concrete as yet. We have seen some land we are interested in but can't really do anything until ours is sold. Change I can handle, but not uncertainty. Must be the grounded Cap in me!

Let me outta here!!

@Debs I think you're being hard on yourself and STRESS won't help. I am lucky Debs I can choose great food from my local supermarket so it's a bit easier for me to fast well you know, than being stuck with food I can't choose the quality of as you seem to be. Limiting that chocolate might be a very good idea though. And as for exercise the only thing I do that I like is walking and a spot of gardening. So you can do it with minimal exercise......I've never been a gym bunny.
Love from the stubborn Auriga...

Hang in there, Debs. Just keep going, one fast at a time. You can't expect to get top quality fresh food in a place so remote, so how about taking a leaf out of Captain James Cook's book and getting into sauercraut(sp?) or seaweed? Dark chocolate is better anyway.
