New Year and back in the fast-saddle again?
Welp. new year... and today is fast day #3 since restarting after a two week break and two months overall into this WOE. I weighed in last Friday and had managed to only gain about 500g from the break I took over Christmas. That's not too bad, all things considered. I didn't overdo it over Christmas, but I certainly had more than my fair share of yummy treats, including a few nice meals out.
I don't quite feel as good and lean as I did pre-Christmas, however. I think it's partly because I've been having a few too many little treats on my feed days (even if I stay under my TDEE, I think too many treats are still not necessarily a good thing). I think for some reason my digestive system has been struggling to readapt to the system. No idea why... might have just been a bit of a fluke last week and we'll see how I do by the end of this week.
I do wonder if going on breaks from fasting can be worse in the long run--not so much because of weight gain but because of how the body adapts to the...

Christmas gift!
I am finally under 80 kg... 79.9 kg this morning on the scales. This is in spite of parties and a hen night... and in spite of the fact that I'd gained 200g the week before. I'm absolutely gobsmacked. I think I've been far more effective at tracking what I eat on feed days...
I'm now about 8 kg from my goal weight, though if this keeps going well I'm going to aim for a lower healthy BMI.
My main challenge remains coming up with innovative ways to exercise. I'd like to do more than brisk walking... that's a goal for the new year, I'd say.
I know that regularly coming to this site has been a big factor in my success so far. I really find everyone's shared experience and support really helpful.

Fasting for over a month now...
Well, I've done it.. I have finally hit my first personal milestone--to stay on the 5:2 consistently for at least a month. Yay me! I feel much more adjusted to things this time around and haven't been using health issues as an excuse not to fast. I think, looking back, that I allowed health problems to function as an excuse at some times more than anything else. I must not have been ready to really commit to the process.
This time around it all feels different. I've written before that I quite like my fast days--I really do. I'm so aware of what I'm consuming, it seems to make all the difference. That wasn't how I felt about them the first go-around. Fasting felt like a chore and I looked at it as a slow, painful marathon.
So as far as numbers go.. well, this is where I'm at: current weight loss of 13.5 lbs (6.1 kg), almost a stone. I've lost a baby! My BMI is down 2.13 points... and to reach my goal weight (71.5 kg), I've got 9.3 kg to go. I imagine it will take...

7 fast days in...
Yet another rambling blog.. if anyone actually reads this, please accept my apologies for maintaining a 'boring' blog writing style... this feels more like stream of consciousness than anything else. But here goes...
If I make it to the end of this week with no mishaps, this is the longest I've ever made it on 5:2! It's barely long enough to claim real evidentiary success, but so far so good... When I first tried it in early 2014, I made it about 3.5 weeks and to be honest I was not very good at settling into it. I feel like my second time around has been luckier than others.
I've managed to lose 10 lbs so far (4.4 kg), which is very pleasing indeed. Each Friday (when I step on the scales) I keep expecting to see I've either gained a bit or not lost anything.. this is mostly because of feeling a bit out of control on my feed days, though I've noticed this week that my appetite has started to drop on feed days. If that keeps up I'll stop worrying about sabotaging the benefits of the fast...

Rollercoaster life...
by LadanTrying on 18 Feb 2015, 21:02
On the plus side: I've now lost 20 lbs. I'll see if that's inched further ahead when I weigh in on Friday. My goal had been 33 lbs total weight loss, so I hope to have reached the weight loss goal by the middle of April. In addition, fasting has become a complete and utter doddle for me. It's like I've reached a kind of zen like state. Even my non-fasting days are a bit easier to manage than before, though I do over-indulge some days.
On the hugely encouraging plus side: A lot of people keep commenting about my weight loss. It is such a boost to my determination. I also have a friend who is fasting now and has lost 12 lbs so far. It's great to have more face-to-face allies to share stories/ideas with! Most still look at me with a bit of surprise and curiosity when I tell them I'm fasting (many say 'oh I could never do that.. I'd get too hungry!' hard to explain how the hunger feel really does start to fade...
