Morning all, and if you were Fasting yesterday I hope it went well. I had a good day, managed a walk and stuck to 466 calories due to chickpea and spinach soup. Must confess that I would normally make soup, but this was a lovely tin of spinach and chickpea soup from Morrisons supermarket NuMe range at 174 cals for the whole tin and it was lovely and filling. I also managed a yoghurt, tea, coffee, an apple and a hot chocolate :grin:

So once again we awake in the UK to yet more information about what is BAD for you in the world of dieting, this time a study that tells us that eating protein is as bad for you as smoking 20 ciggies a day! Oh, but guess what? It's an "observational study" which means that these folks on the study were exposed to all sorts of the normal things that you come across in life and some of them died "early". I've done my share of scientific reading and if you want some facts about an eating plan, read Dr Krista Varady's study then adapt it to your life on the understanding that you are still living an observational life with environmental factors.

The bottom line, if you are obese and you lose even 10% of that body weight and maintain that loss you are adding to your chances of living longer - as long as you are not really smoking 20 ciggies a day, I'm not going to worry about the protein!

Starting weight October 2011 was 183lbs Dukanned down to 140lbs found it hard to maintain so started 5:2 in July 2013. Lowest weight was 138lbs in September 2013. My goal is 133lbs or 9st and 7lbs
