Different eating pattern today

by Revel3 on 16 May 2014, 13:04

So I finally got out on my bike this morning. Why on earth I thought I could just breeze round the hilly circuit I struggled with last year I don't know. It was hard, hard, hard. Off to cycle round Brittany in three weeks so I need to get out regularly before then and get a lot fitter.

Fasting today but have changed my normal pattern of eating a snack and then rest of calories in the evening. Have just eaten 550 calories so won't be eating again until tomorrow evening. Will be interesting to see how I feel this evening. It's 1.30 now so I have all afternoon and evening to go. Hope I don't go to bed too hungry.

Swimming twice a week at Hathersage open air pool and doing two Pilates classes. Feeling slimmer and my clothes are definitely fitting better or even too loose! Will try to resist scales until next week and then hoping for some good news.

Easier fast days

by Revel3 on 08 Apr 2014, 09:23

Fast days have got easier since my last post. I have egg on toast for breakfast and then a large crunchy salad (which takes ages to prepare and eat) in the evening. I am definitely noticing that my clothes are much looser. I have a couple of dresses which going to need taking in soon. I will also need to buy new jeans as without a belt I have to keep hitching them up and with a belt there's too much material around my stomach. Hooray!
However the scales aren't reflecting this at the moment. They are stuck when they really should be going down. However I'm not despondent as I know this is a pattern for me. What I must do is stick with it and then there will be a sudden large drop. And that will be so cool!
I'm doing more exercise, Pilates twice a week and outdoor swimming twice a week. I may also start venturing out on my bike as we have a cycling holiday in Brittany planned in June.
Exercise makes me feel so much better as well as re-shaping my body.
Fasting today and looking forward...

Worst fast day so far

by Revel3 on 25 Mar 2014, 07:07

Had a wobbly week last week with trip to Brussels. But back on track now and weight stable. Yesterday however was a difficult fast day. I felt light-headed for the first time on a fast day and had egg on toast at 9am rather than hanging on until 11 as I usually do. Felt constantly hungry for rest of day. Had large salad at 5 with fish as protein. Felt better in the evening but still hungry. In the afternoon I felt slightly grumpy all the time and short tempered. I also didn't feel as 'sharp' as normal in my thinking.
I have been 5:2 fasting since beginning of January and yesterday was the worst fasting day yet. Hope it was a one-off and Thursday is a better day.

Doing well

by Revel3 on 04 Mar 2014, 07:30

Weight still going down. Have lost 10lb since beg of Jan. Clothes feeling looser and I'm feeling better. Up until now I have split my fast day calories between two meals - a late breakfast and an evening meal. Yesterday I tried a different approach and didn't eat anything until the evening. I had black tea and water to drink and then had a lovely stir fry with some cold chicken for tea. It was lovely being able to have a larger meal and meant I wasn't restless all evening wondering how soon I could go to bed so that it would be the next day and I could eat again. However I did feel lethargic for most of the day and I'm not sure I will do this very often, maybe just now and again. I think I prefer having some protein mid-morning to keep me going until the evening.

One of the benefits of this fasting for me is it's potential flexibility. The week I didn't fast because my mum died and I needed to take a break, I lost 2 lb. that may have been cumulative from the couple of weeks before when...

Fasting today

by Revel3 on 27 Feb 2014, 11:31

Second fast day of the week. I find Mondays easier than Thursdays for some reason. I think the beginning of the working week is better psychologically. On the other hand once today is over I've got a clear three days before next fast. But really none of it has been difficult. This is nothing like having to weigh and record absolutely everything you ever eat every single day. Two days a week I eat very little and the rest if the time I eat normally. But even my 'normally' has changed. I am definitely eating smaller portions of food and am no longer shovelling food into my mouth. I have lost my fear of being hungry and that little voice which kept urging me to keep on eating in case ......in case what I don't know.......in case someone came and took all the food away maybe.

I seem to have taken a step back from food and can see past each mealtime now. I know that if I am hungry I can find something to eat, no-one has stolen all the food. So I have become much more relaxed about eating and...
