Even more pleasing however than the large weight loss is that I'm finding this so easy. I hope this isn't beginner's blip as I really haven't found fasting a struggle at all. I think I may get bored with vegetable soup every fast day so will start finding some other recipes. I like having breakfast and as I'm quite active I don't want to go for really long periods with no food at all. So I have two eggs for breakfast and that uses up quite a lot of calories. I might try cutting down to one egg and see how I get on. I know many fasters don't eat at all during the day and essentially go 24 hours without eating then have a 500 cal evening meal. But psychologically I think I would be panicking and waiting to pass out! Just having a light breakfast makes me feel I'm not starving myself, just eating very lightly. And it seems to be working. I can always play around with this if my weigh loss plateaus.
So a very positive start and here's to the rest of January! This may just turn out to be a whole new way of life after all!
