campaign launch and the spotted pants

I'm so pleased to be able to say that after weeks and weeks of nothing happening on the weight front, I finally hit a new low. Since the start of Feb I've been hovering around 67kg, sometimes going up to 68kg, which I didn't want to record in my record. Not honest. I was worried that my summer weight loss was over and I was about to begin the slow climb up again. This has happened so often in the past. But today, I hit 66.1kg. It was after a fast and I know the scales are wonky. But I have never seen 66 anything on the scales before today. So that must mean something. And it means celebration!
Fasting and campaigning has had it's challenges. We often go door knocking at 5pm until 8pm. If I fast, I am pretty strung out by 5pm and I didn't like the idea of talking to voters in such a delicate frame. I have now developed a good routine. Black coffee for breakfast then nothing until about 2pm when I have a miso soup. Then about 4pm I have a salad of say, smoked salmon, cucumber, tomato, what have you, and maybe a hard boiled egg. Mayo, of course. This is like dinner and it holds me until bed time. I don't feel hungry and I can do the door knock and smile enthusiastically at the grumpy voters. I am wondering if I might not stick to this routine into the post election period. It avoids that horror stretch from 4 - 6pm when I am really ready to kill for food. I get very irritable at that time. It's something to think about.
The other item to report is my new outfit. For one of the candidate events, the Autism Forum, I ordered some silk polka-dot pants. They are absolutely gorgeous and cost a packet. I have never worn anything like this before, so it was quite a stretch outside my comfort zone and I could make that stretch because I feel better about my body. It feels like you're not wearing any clothes they are so light and filmy. But they look great. For the launch, I decided I needed a new black top to go with them which I ordered on line and which arrived this morning. It's wool but really light and should go perfectly with the new pants. I think i will wear my grandmother's amber-crystal necklace with them, some colour to lift the black and white. And I will feel the spirit of my grandmother with me on the stage. I know she would love what I am doing.
