new low: new goal

by Sallyo on 22 Mar 2014, 02:06

Today I got my 2nd reading on the scales of 64 point something. The first time, a week or so ago, it was 64.8. Today it was 64.7. This time I have entered it into the progress tracker and I had to set a new goal.

I am now a healthy weight. Unbelievable. Originally when I started 5:2, I had no idea what weight I wanted to be and I hit on 60kg, as a nice round number. Then I realised that if I wanted to be a healthy BMI, 65 would do it. So I changed my target to that. I am now under that.

So this morning I set my new goal at 60 again. I think that translates to something like 8 and a bit stone, which is the weight I was way back in the days when I was young and pretty, frightened and angry, and we still weighed in stones and pounds. I'm not sure if I really want to go back there, but I am sure I want to lose more weight. I even have my sights on size 12!!!

Over winter I will be happy if I can maintain my weight. So come the end of May, I may change my goal again, so that I am just concentrating on that.

I don't want to set goals that are unachievable, and make myself feel bad that I am not meeting the goal.

Katharina is my fasting buddy.

Sallyo, first off, well done. Congrats on your progress to date.

About the winter thing... fasting in the winter can be great. I have been making quiche or tinned soup for my fast days. Both are warm and filling and work brilliantly on a cold miserable day. But the calories are still reasonable and the fasts can be productive. You may surprise yourself over the winter. So be open to that idea.

Yes, I don't mind winter fasting: hearty soup, roast vegetables. But my body seems to hold weight over winter. At least this has been my experience. Usually I put on weight lost over summer. That's why I will set a goal of trying to maintain. At the moment I am still losing but I don't know how long that will continue. We are just at the tipping point into autumn.
