pants falling down.

by Sallyo on 22 Apr 2014, 01:05

I am home from my holiday in Cradle Mountain. There were 12 of us, old friends and friends of friends, staying for 3 nights in cabins and eating together each night.

First to mention: everyone who was there who has known me for a long time commented on my spectacular weight loss. I forget, but old friends are a very good reminder of how far I have come.

Second, I was a lot faster going up the hills than in Feb '13 when I did the Overland Track with some of those people. They noticed that. It stands to reason. I left 14 kg at the bottom of the mountain.

Third, my special bushwalking pants, quite expensive, bought specially for the Overland Track in Feb '13, were threatening to fall down to my ankles. Specially when they got wet and my iphone was in the pocket.

My new scales gave me 69kg last Friday, after a fast day. I am only going to weigh once a week, on Friday. I am going to enter it into the tracker, religiously. I am not going to join any challenges or set any goals, other than the one I have set, to get under 70 by the end of May. I know I did get such a weight last Friday but I wont think I have made it until I have had that weight consistently. I am going to be happy with staying around that weight over winter and I am not going to try any diets. 5:2 suits me and I can do it. If I start mucking around with 4:3 or ADF or counting calories on non fast days, it feels like a diet to me and I won't like it, I won't stick to it; I'll start to binge and get into the whole deprivation/reward syndrome.

While I was away I noticed a lot of faddy diets. I was the only one in the group who enjoyed full cream milk and luscious cream. This one didn't have sugar, this one didn't drink wine, and so on. I also noticed that my friend who is on a really strict diet of no sugar, no dairy, no wine, no bread, had to eat really big serves to feel satisfied. My serves were quite small, but I had everything! The no fat thing was really interesting. But I was the one who had lost so much weight. The others weren't particularly over weight, but they all believed that cream would give them heart problems. I guess they could look at me and think that I had a faddy diet because everything I ate was home made and often homegrown or at least local. I am a locavore.

So I am fasting today, instead of Monday when I was in Cradle. I am trying to work out what to eat. I just did a My Fitness Pal count on a fish curry but I'd have to go without rice. Better to save that for another day.

Katharina is my fasting buddy.

Another great ambassador for this WOE. Well done SallyO. It's working for you, so why change anything?

Just saying to Hazelnut20, the falling pants theme pops up a lot around here, have you noticed?!!

Glad you've had a Super time sallyo.
My fitness pants (cost an arm and a leg) fall down and if I'm on the treadmill they go all the way. Lol
