My food management journey

Daily? record of my food management journey to see if I can learn more strategies for effective management of my food consumption

Day 15

by Sassy1 on 29 Sep 2016, 03:06

As I expected, I did have some food after dinner yesterday... I managed the day with just 2 pickled gherkins, and then roast chook and veg, followed by an orange for tea. I allowed myself a small amount of chocolate, a banana and a few dry roasted peanuts (I love these, can't find them anywhere but 2 outlets in Qld!) and a slice of cheese.

I have decided that I will not do strict cals on fast days. I will endeavour not to eat til dinner time, and I will eat enough in the evening to ensure I don't feel hungry at bedtime. I can cope with hunger during the day, but I am not going to do so at other times. Some days I may be happy to not eat in the evenings. We will see.

Felt good this morning, really looked forward to my std brekkie, that I didn't have til 11am after walking the dogs and an hour on the treadmill (caught up with a fave TV show at the same time). Loved the brekkie. Eating does make me want to eat more, but I have taken on board the "wait 20 mins" and that does seem to work. Had a coffee as well.

Have prepared the salad for lunch. I make a 3-day batch, cos it takes so long to cut everything up for the coleslaw that I have. Nice to know that is ready for whenever I want it. I do try to have 3 hours between meals, but sometimes can't wait that long... I do have coffee and water to help me "hang on" a bit longer.

I do feel that I am lighter than I was when I started this blog, but it is hard to tell because I get a lot of tummy bloating, even on fast days, even if low carb. I think I do have some FODMAP issues, but have never been able to exclude all the possible suspects from my diet for long enough to do the testing process. I may try again next year. I do know apples are a major cause. I love them, but have reduced severely the numbers I have. Cauliflower, mushrooms, avocados may also be to blame - but these are such good foods, I hate excluding them from my diet.

Goal reached December 2013, weight loss strategy 5:2, weight management strategy is eating a wide range of (mainly) whole foods but am back to following 5:2 for a while. Main eating challenge is the evening munchies!
