Days 41-44

by Sassy1 on 28 Oct 2016, 04:32

This might be my last blog entry... For a while at least.

I am at the end of my 6 week challenge, off on holiday tomorrow. Overall, I am happy with what I have achieved in terms of my objectives.

- I have had less mindless eating in the evening than prior to the challenge.

- In terms of gaining insight into my evening eating (in addition to eating out of boredom, for comfort and reward, which I already knew) I think that evening eating, particularly when I am not hungry, has a lot to do with the immediate pleasure of eating. Something that is difficult to get so easily from other sources. Not sure that that helps much tho!

- a glass of warm water with a squirt of lemon juice throughout the day does seem to help reduce the amount I eat each day

- a very filling dinner helps limit evening eating (most of the time)

- I am still able to use fasting as an antidote to overindulging (hopefully not needed too often...), but otherwise don't want to do fast days as a regular thing, though...

Days 38-40

by Sassy1 on 23 Oct 2016, 20:48

More days gone than I thought since I last blogged!

Finished week 5 of challenge feeling fine, felt very good on Saturday and wrote some rather sanctimonious (??) posts, for which I was paid back in full yesterday with considerable overeating for no apparent reason, except possibly tiredness and horrible weather... Also, I think when my tummy doesn't look or feel bloated, somehow I give myself permission to eat more. Then I swell up like a balloon and feel awful. Is this telling me that I do need to be forever vigilant? Will it ever be possible to manage food intake like someone who has never been overweight??

I would normally fast as an antidote, but have son and g/f coming for lunch. Not sure how I am going to handle this one.

NB I do sleep better with a tummy full of carbs...

Days 35-37

by Sassy1 on 21 Oct 2016, 00:54

Well, I am a bit behind with this. The week has been and continues to be busy, but I am taking a break before lunch to update this.

Continuing from my previous blog entry, I had another "good" eating day on Tuesday. Very little snacking. I kept occupied in the evening, which of course helped. I made some nutritious dried fruit and nut balls - all sorts of ingredients and they taste good for you. Ideally supposed to be an alternative to me eating chocolate, tho that hasn't quite worked, but they have been an alternative to eating dried fruit and nuts separately, and I think have helped me limit the quantity I would usually eat.

I have done more evening snacking than ideally I would like the last two evenings, but both days I didn't eat until mid afternoon, and I was very active both days, so it is possible that the evening eating was meeting a genuine need. I certainly don't feel like I am putting on weight and, apart from the chocolate, my food choices are nutritious. I do need...

Day 34

by Sassy1 on 18 Oct 2016, 07:02

Well, I feel much better today! Was it because of a successful fast day? Was it being in control of my eating? Somehow I was able to not eat after dinner. Still can't work out what is happening in my head/body that means sometimes I can resist evening eating, and other times I can't.

Haven't had too much food today. Yet. Hard boiled egg and muesli with milk for brekkie. Busy morning with the painting class and then off to lunch with the women from the group. Had a very interesting salad whose ingredients I can't recall apart from kale and grilled halloumi. And that's been it for today and I am about to make dinner (roast chook and steamed veg). Oh, have had a glass of Cab Sav.

So not much to report on today.
