I'm feeling better! I have dropped 10 lbs and that's my first step on my thousand-mile journey, but I've taken that dreaded first step. This is another fast day and so far so good. I added some bouillon to my morning and that helped tremendously. It was hot and savory and very satisfying. While I miss my morning coffee on fast days (can't do coffee without 1/2 & 1/2), the savory beef broth was great. I had a salad with lots of greens, 3 slivers of grilled chicken, 1/2 small scoop of cottage cheese and a small apple for lunch. Dinner again will be the Progresso lite soup and a few strawberries. I'm eating less on non-fast days (I hate "feed" days . . . makes me think of a horse with his nose in the trough!), not because I'm struggling to "diet" but because I truly want less. This phenomenon is really amazing to me because I can overeat VERY easily. But now when I overeat I feel miserable and I have come to hate that feeling. Thanks to everyone who comes and posts...

Login problems

by SmokyMtns on 28 May 2013, 18:07

Whew! I haven't been able to login for 3 days and I was beginning to panic! I don't want to lose my new friends and the support I get here. Tried the login a couple seconds ago and got in. I was afraid I had totally forgotten my username or password and everything. Did anyone else experience such problems? I tried at home and at work. Go figure!

We celebrated Memorial Day, a day honoring all American veterans who died giving service to our country. This is a national holiday and the unofficial beginning of summer. I planted flowers on my deck and enjoyed the spring sunshine and the sweet smell of honeysuckle growing in the woods. Nothing smells sweeter! Enjoyed cooking on the grill but feel like I didn't overdo it which is sooo easy to do!

I'm fasting today and have a mild headache but am drinking lots of water (which I loathe!) with lemon in it. Tonight I will have a can of light Progresso soup which is filling and good. Something to look forward to. Going to catch up on the Forums!...

Strategy continues!

by SmokyMtns on 20 May 2013, 14:42

Woo hoo! I have dropped a total of 7 lbs. I know that doesn't sound like much but when you add it to the 7 pounds I haven't gained that's 14 lbs! Okay not really but a nice thought nonetheless. My family came in this extended weekend to help celebrate my retirement . . . woo hoo! At last! We had lots of good food and I still lost 3 lbs this week. One thing that I have finally begun to notice is that I can't eat my entire meal which is some kind of miracle for me. Not eat all my dinner?! Previously unheard of. I'm seriously beginning to think this 5:2 fast thing works! Admittedly I was skeptical at the start, but now not so much. I intend to keep on keepin' on. The only way from here is down that wretched scale.

My strategy continues

by SmokyMtns on 15 May 2013, 14:20

End of week 2 and my weight stayed exactly the same. I posted earlier that I was not going to be a slave to the scale; I was NOT going to let it determine how I feel. Well, the darn thing sand-bagged me again. I want to show some progress even if it's only 1/2 pound, not STAY THE SAME!! I will not be discouraged; I will NOT be discouraged. I'm going to keep on keeping on. I've tried every diet know to mankind and this one has got to succeed. I've also got to determine to eat less on the feed days. Let's face it . . . I overeat! Fast for 2 days and eat what you want on feed days just a little less of it! Okay, thanks for 'listening'. The struggle continues.

My Strategy

by SmokyMtns on 07 May 2013, 15:13

I did it! I got through yesterday (fast day) and my awful cold is getting better. The sun is shining and the rain has washed all the pollen out of the air. I lost 4 lbs my first week on this program (my weigh-in day is Monday morning, a fast day). Well, this morning I was curious to see how much weight I could drop after a fast day, so I weighed again (which I will not do on a regular basis . . . I was just curious), and the scale was down another 3 lbs. I'm going to weigh again tomorrow morning to see how my weight fluctuates after a feed day (again just curious). As most people have reported, I foresee an average loss per week of 1-2 lbs. But I managed well yesterday. My hardest time of day is when I get home from school and I'm flat fainting with hunger. Yesterday I got out a bowl of beautiful strawberries and ate about 4. That little snack helped me hang on until dinner which was 2 eggs and toast with a sliced tomato. Not too shabby. Right now I'm feeling empowered. I feel like I can...
