Back in the swing of it
As ever, this is for my records and to look back at tough times when I need a bit of a push with things.
Feel quite secure that I'm now back with 5:2 and that 36hr liquid fasting is something that I can achieve a couple of times a week without too much hassle! Must remember to stay away from curry nights out with friends - they do too much damage on the scales - must either gain a much stricter control of myself or plug the idea of Pizza Express and their Leggera Pizzas (less calories!). Mind you a couple of glasses of red wine doesn't help - so more constraint needed there too! Keep going girl - part of the original 69ers Christmas Club - sooooo want to achieve that for myself

October 2013 - sad days :(
My last post (at the end of June) was something along the lines of seeing less of me - due to having lost a lot of weight but also swanning off to Africa to house sit for some friends over the summer months. There's been more than a few traumas over the last few months, so forgive me if I fill you in a bit, just so you realise the reason for my absence.
We had an absolutely fabulous time away in Africa - hubby and I were house sitting for friends in Dar es Salaam for 6 weeks- our 3 grown up kids came out to join us for a fortnight half way through and we all went on safari together - had an amazing time. Memories to last a lifetime!!
While we were away Bob's (my husband) brother-in-law had had his twin brother come and stand in and take Bob's place on the building site over in Essex (they were doing a project together for a bit of fun, as well as hopefully some sort of financial investment) - well the day we flew home we were told that he had died whilst working on site the previous week...

2 months further on................
......from my previous ramblings and 7 lbs lighter. Such a slow weight loss but I know what I eat on non-fast days (and the odd Toblerone bar has been purchased for someone else and then consumed by me in a moment of complete abandonment, before I’ve had a chance to give it to them – so hey ho I can’t complain). If I was concerned about speeding it up then I would have to be more vigorous and controlled on my ‘feast days’.
I really should try a bit harder to be honest, I would so like to get to my goal weight by Christmas (just in time for celebrations and putting some of it back on again !!!!) Maybe writing this will motivate me to try just that bit harder for a few months.
I’ve now done a few weeks of 36hour liquid only fasting – am amazed at how I can achieve them (though it is a struggle come 9pm and I start prowling the kitchen, along with my cats, looking for some supper). ...

My story so far...... ramblings of a converted 5:2er
I’m writing this as a record for myself really as I’m sure in years to come I’ll look back and really not remember the chain of events in the correct order.
Can’t believe it will be of any real interest to anyone else, but am leaving it open for viewing because anyone with a lot of weight to shed may find a bit of help/support from my ramblings!
I’m coming up for 55 and have, since the birth of my 3 children steadily put on weight. I’ve tried various diets like SW and WW over the years and yes they have been good and helped me – but the weight has always gone back on again and more. About 2 years ago now (or thereabouts) even size 18 was getting too tight for me and the scales were saying that I weighed almost 15stone / 210 lbs – and at 5’6 that's not good.
The thought of going up to a size 20 and weighing 15 stone was – for me – a real questioning point about what I was doing to myself. My poor organs, how were they coping, how long would they last out – what on earth was I thinking...
