Been a tough month, weight wise, but still happy.
I put on about 4.5 pounds total, but I'm losing again. I'm guessing my thyroid levels have finally righted themselves. Right now I'm only about .6 lb / 400g up from my "low" last month. So that's very pleasing. Hopefully next time I get on the scale, there will be another loss
I will say that despite a frustrating month with my weight, I'm still very happy with the diet. I like how fasting for two days really helps me control my appetite for the rest of the week. My meal sizes are smaller and I'm eating until I'm happy. Last night (a fast night), I only ate about 300 calories at dinner before I was just honestly stuffed with veggie curry. I'm also pleased with the better choices I'm making about food - since I'm really noticing the calories in things whether it's a feed day or fast day.

le sigh
Well so much for not having gained any weight -- I actually am up two pounds from last week. BUT, knowing my thyroid levels on my blood work were too low last week makes me feel much better. And on the bright side, I'm wearing a t-shirt that is from the regular ladies' department in Target, not the fat ladies' department! So that makes me feel good. Three weeks ago, it was obscenely tight. So there's a chance this 2 pounds is some sort of water or something and not a real gain.

Good news
At least I know why I haven't lost any weight in two weeks despite being well-behaved. My labs came back and my thyroid slowing meds are too strong - my thyroid levels are actually too low now. The doctor reduced my dosage by 25%, so here's hoping the weight loss picks back up
The last time this happened, the doctor ended up steadily reducing my dosage and eliminating it over about an 8 month period. Wish me luck!

Week of 11 March
Well I have been doing 5:2 since January 8 and I have to say I think it's brilliant. Today is my 19th fast day.
I'm not losing weight at the speed I would quite hope for, but I have other issues to factor in. The biggest one is my hyperactive thyroid/Graves Disease, for which I have to take medication to slow my thyroid down. I'm pretty sure that's putting a bit of a damper on the weight loss as at my weight I really ought to be losing a bit more quickly.
On the bright side, not only have I stopped gaining weight (this medication really makes you gain weight), but I've lost 9 pounds so far. I am technically no longer morbidly obese per my BMI, which is wonderful. Although I'm still obese, so there's loads more work to go.
Interestingly, I feel like this diet has put me in touch with my body. Now, when I eat an inappropriate amount of food, I actually feel a bit sick. That's fantastic! I had actually been a bit jealous of people who would get these sorts of cues from their body,...

New start - medication free!
by Tracieknits on 19 Jan 2014, 14:38
Every couple of months, my thyroid levels would be low and they would again decrease my meds - oh so gradually!! Well finally, I stopped taking meds in early December
I didn't record any weight gains in my tracker because I REFUSED to believe they were permanent gains. I was not willing to admit defeat. I knew that with this way of eating, I could regain control once I could wrest it back from my meds.
Over the Christmas holidays, I did go up a few pounds. I weigh every day, so it's hard to tell, exactly, but my average...
