Shifting the excess

I expect i am like many women. Two small children, full-time work, no time to myself. Over the years i have halfheartedly tried different diets, and spent money too!! I am feeling the excess, i can't believe i have let it get this far. This is crunch time.

After reading the book i know i can do this and this will suit my lifestyle.

This is my journey - the highs and lows of shifting the massive amount of excess weight i make myself carry every day.

8 Weeks in

by croftmaclean on 10 Jul 2014, 23:22

So it has been a month since i blogged and i thought i would have a wee catch up on my progress. I am following 3:4 and loving it. If only i could have know how easy it could be. I know as the weight comes down in will get harder but hopefully i have a long way to go before that happens.

In 8 weeks i have lost 16lb and i am feeling much more confident. Only another 7 stone to go so I am in it for the long haul but i am mentally ready and prepared for that- the time is right - and this is certainly a WOL that is sustainable in the long term - not like diets. I am really busy at work so having no problem on my fast days. Yes i do get hungry but i just keep going and soon forget about it.

Weather has been glorious and it all helps. Swimming has picked up and there is now a group of 6 of us going swimming in the sea every night. I did 1km twice this week in a water temp of 9 degrees C. My steps are also up and I am enjoying being part of the fitbit community. Tonight i am increasing...

Hiccup

by croftmaclean on 07 Jun 2014, 06:21

I have been doing really well. However this week was hellish - working 14 hours a day. I fasted 3 times but was not prepared with my evening meals and probably went just over the 500. Then we get to the last fast on Friday. To start with i left my fitbit at home and it is the first one i have really felt hungry but i managed to 6pm and then had an evening appointment and had a couple of sandwiches there. I was supposed to be doing a workshop with the youth cafe but when i got there discovered it was cancelled. Everyone else at home was eating curry so i got tucked in and had some wine too! I did really enjoy it. Thought about doing another fast today but NO. Still lost 1lb so new fasting week on Monday and only 3lb to go to to have lost a stone so setting myself that goal next week :) It would be a great feeling to reach 1 stone mark ...

Second full week of 4:3

by croftmaclean on 31 May 2014, 05:10

So it is 3 weeks since i started this new WOL and my second week on 4:3 and i am already noticing the changes. Clothes are looser, not so tired, don't have to whip my bra off as soon as i come home. I am finding the fast days easy - just coffee in the morning, perhaps one coffee later on and water until dinner. Of course what is helping too is the weather has been great - everyone feels a little more fantastic when the sun shines! Happy with loosing another 2lb bringing my total to 8lb - now i need to try and get some more exercise in the routine.
Got in my first sea swim this week - sea was 10 degrees and it felt wonderful. Hoping to get another one in today. And this week I have averaged well over 10k steps a day - it was helped by being so busy at work with running the community shop.
Looking forward to the weekend and two free fast days - i can feel my stomach is small so i am not needing or wanting to eat so much. We are forecast good weather ...

First week of 4:3

by croftmaclean on 23 May 2014, 19:39

so i know this is only my second week of fasting, so i am still in the honeymoon period, but i have been finding it really easy - i keep thinking it can't be this easy,am i missing something?

However the weight has been coming off - i know and am prepared for hitting a wall but i am sure i will have a wee while before that happens. The only side effect i have been having is feeling a little tired earlier in the evening but then i have also been busy at work. And i have been a bit off with the kids but no headaches, no stomach pains - the hunger hasn't been bad at all.

I have found the past 2 weeks really liberating - i am doing something that is making a difference to my health with very little hassle factor. Motivation is high and long may it continue.

off to a beach wedding tomorrow and looking forward to enjoying myself - just wish i had knowabout this earlier so i could wear nicer clothes but that will come ...

Great Fast - 21 May

by croftmaclean on 21 May 2014, 22:05

Had a great fast today - coffee in the morning and then busy all day. On my feet all day too so also met my fitbit target of 10,000 steps :like: :like: Had a wee swim too with the kids - my legs were stiff from all the swimming yesterday so it was nice just to do a couple of lengths and relax in the sauna.
Our Italian visitor made salad and sourdough pizza - probably not the best meal on a fast day but was delicious and around the 500 mark. Already finding i do not need to eat as much :victory:
Normal day tomorrow and fastday again on Friday :)
