Quietly Inspired

by danalu on 17 Sep 2013, 00:49

Its rainy and stormy here today. Big wind through the trees. I like the light splintering through the clouds. I like Vivaldi playing in the background. I don't like that I'm putting off starting my assignment!

I was inspired to write this morning by MrsBod who wrote her reasons for doing this. So I'm going to write my own reasons, and may they quietly and steadfastly inspire me.

1. I want to lose weight and fit into my old clothes again. I still have all my old clothes funny enough. I guess I thought I'd never stay fat, but would someday drop these kilos.
2. I would like to receive compliments again because I 'look nice today'. I don't think I have received a compliment for about three, four, five years. Not even by my husband. I used to get a lot of compliments.
3. I want to be able to MOVE FREELY and WITH EASE. I don't want this lumbering fat to weigh me down so I can't move. I mean, its not that bad, but I definitely feel the difference of being 15 kilos overweight and three sizes bigger than what I was 8 years ago.
4. I want to set a healthy, active, positive example for my children, and have fun with them being active!
5. I want to go bushwalking again without being puffed. I went the other day with a friend and was totally embarrassed at how puffed I was compared to her! There was a time I could have kept up with her no problem. I was swimming, body surfing, hang gliding, skiing, rollerskating, bikeriding, hiking, bowling with EASE!!! I still do those things but they are so hard now. I want to move easy again.
6. I want my BOLDNESS back again! I don't want to be afraid of life because I am too fat. I want to be confident going to new places and doing new things.

Yesterday I had a good fasting day. Today I am doing well. My hormones are fluctuating again, but I am in control. Tomorrow is another fasting day, and Friday too. My goal is to keep on keeping on for three months. So mid-September through mid-December. 10 Kilos in 12 weeks, or thereabouts. Its time to be bold and take the bull by the horn.

Hi Danalu, great post. I can definitely relate to a lot of what you're saying. I just wanted to offer encouragement with my own experience of 5:2: I started six months ago with a BMI of just under 33, and it's now just below 26. This works, and you don't need to spend money on special products or deprive yourself. Your way of eating seems to change almost magically as you start to truly enjoy the food you're eating. I wish you success and look forward to following your progress!

Hi AiriR

Wow - how cool that you have gone from a 33 to a 26 BMI!!! And 18 kilos lost! That is just so totally totally totally cool! Talk about inspiration! I have gone off the rails quite a few times with 5:2, as is my habit of going off the rails whenever I begin to 'diet'. I keep thinking 'if I had just stayed the course I would be x amount of kilos lighter by now'. So that is the mindset now - I want to be x amount of kilos lighter by December...' and I want to change my habits AND I don't want to disappoint myself! Because I'm the one who is making these decisions! I can take responsibility for myself. Just as you and others have. What an inspiration!! Thanks for writing
