End of Week 2

by fancyfinch on 05 Sep 2017, 12:25

With a fast on Tuesday, a partial fast on Friday, and fasts on Sunday and Monday, I did manage to counteract the over 4000 calories I consumed the day of my sister's wedding (saturday), and ended at 167.6 on my monday morning weigh-in (but then dropped to 165.2lb by tuesday morning, which bodes well for next monday's weigh-in).

Lessons learned:
-Fasting the first day of my period is a very bad idea. It wasn't my intention to, it just happened to fall on the same day. I was extra hungry that day, but I ended up eating more than the Fast Day allotment not because I was hungry, but because I started getting lightheaded and seeing spots. I should have known that would happen, as I normally get very weak that day.
-It's nice being able to fully enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime event (like a wedding) without worrying or guilting about calories eaten. I did still track the calories I ate that day as well as I could (more out of curiosity than anything) but didn't feel poorly about it, knowing full well I could take care of any weight gain in the following week.
-Ice cream isn't worth it. At least, not most ice cream. Most of the calories on my sister's wedding day actually happened before the wedding when my father gave me a pint of ice cream (special flavor we both enjoy that is really hard to find) which I couldn't save for other days because I was flying back across the country less than 12 hours later. It was tasty, but not worth it. There is one particular ice cream (even harder to find) that I would gladly eat a whole pint of without looking back, but this wasn't it. I've noticed this, too, with how I've been spending my calories ever since beginning 5:2, and for someone who generally eats a LOT of ice cream, I haven't had any at all. So, ice cream not worth it.
-While on the subject of what's worth it and not, I've learned that I do tend to expend calories on Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel Squares and Starbucks Salted Caramel Mochas. I'm sensing a flavor pattern here, lol. Even on fast days, I always make sure I have enough for at least one square at the end of the day (70 calories).
