I've not snacked between meals since May 2012 and I'm still alive and haven't had a hypo. On my second fast day and I think that one reason why I've not had problems is that I am used to leaving gaps between meals. This is just one step up.

I chose to have breakfast but I agree that we are brainwashed into what we need. Primarily, I think, by the food industry. We do NOT need to snack for example. Our blood sugar won't drop if we don't eat for two hours.

Last week, my wife, along with a work colleague had a week of detox with a mixture of pre- bottled vegetable and fruit juices! The odd thing was that you could supplement the regime with baked potatoes! Rather odd, but who am I to discourage. The bottom line is... My wife was miserable after two days. She managed it, but was totally bored. The result is....she has joined me on 5:2. I am really happy. She doesn't need to drop as much weight as me, but as a percentage of her current weight, we are not dissimilar. Today was her first day. I am very proud.
