The only problem I've encountered so far, after a month on 5:2, is insomnia on my fast nights. I have poor sleep to start with, but my sleep on fast nights has been extremely poor and disrupted, leaving me feeling dreadful the next day.
I've tried saving nearly all my calories til the evening meal, having a high protein meal for dinner, and taking a prescription melatonin tablet at bedtime, all to no avail.
Last night I finally slept a bit better — still broken sleep, but an improvement on my usual fast night insomnia.
I can't tell whether this was from:
1) Doing a bit of exercise (weights) before bed. Rose my heart rate, but not a sweat.
2) Eating a vegetarian meal, and having a small yoghurt before bed.
3) Turning up my electric blanket to medium; I've noticed that I feel very cold on fast nights, so maybe being too cold is causing the insomnia? Normally the lowest setting is fine for me during autumn/winter, but last night the middle setting was just comfortable.

Losing 1.6 pounds is hardly a plateau! You are not going to keep losing at the same rate as the beginning. You should be very happy with 1 pound a week!
