I am such an idiot. No wonder my progress has been so slow and erratic. Thanks to reading various pieces on this forum (with particular thanks to Caroree) I find I've been going way over my TDEE on "normal" days - must admit I was wondering exactly what "normal" and "eat what you like" meant. I come from a family of enthusiastic and undisciplined eaters, so have not experienced the notion of restraint around food. Even though we eat fresh, organic, homemade, and avoid nutritionally empty food (i.e. sugar, ice cream, choc etc), there is plenty of it, and I don't stint on serving size. I love trying new recipes, love pasta, rice, potatoes. That's fine grandma, just don't go overboard. ;-)

Losing 1.6 pounds is hardly a plateau! You are not going to keep losing at the same rate as the beginning. You should be very happy with 1 pound a week!
