Day 18 16:8

Weight 8st 13.25

REMAIN POSITIVE. I can't have expected to just fall to 8st 10 in one week. My liquid fast yesterday wasn't great. The bulk of what I ate was liquid - I think I had about 400 cals or. I had tea all day and then at lunch time I had soup. It was when I got home that I gave into temptation. As you know, I had another pack of soup just in case. HOwever, my OH arrived home with my favourite crisps (Hunky Dory Cheese and Onion). I felt obliged to open them so as not to offend him. However, I exercised great willpower by only eating a couple and then rolling the bag away for tomorrow. One thing that helped was reading MIMI SPENCERS new book. I was just on the part which was telling me not to give into temptation on fast days and to think in just under 12 hours I can eat something. She was extolling the virtues of creating the habit of saying no and being really strict on fast days - something which I have become quite complacent about. Therefore I put this in my mind and put them away. Challenge number 2, OH asked me to have some dinner ready after his swim training session - tortellini filled with ricotta and basil - YUM. The pack is for 2 so I cooked about 3/4's and only had 2 pieces myself - but still that is giving in. Whats more, he later offered me his left overs and I went out to put them straight in the fridge but ate 4 pieces (2 for each side of my mouth). RAGE. It wasn't because of the cals, it was because it was solid food.

So today is a 16:8 day and I'm prepared kind of. It's 8am and I woke up hungry and a little deflated with no move on the scales (although it might move tomorrow). I intend to eat at 12 if I can last til then. I have a cold which has been going on 5 days now which I'm finding it hard to shift and that is sapping my energy. I'm supposed to cycle today but I think I will take it easy and go slowly and not overexert myself. I will cycle later but I intended to do 40km and push myself. I think I will do a leisurely 30km even just to get moving.

Foodwise, I will have 2 eggs at 12pm. I'm going to be cooking balti chicken aswell (one of my favourites and basically low cals as its spices, chicken and natural yogurt). I'm going to make aveg version of it too. Mimi Spencer in her new book which aims to get you to where you want to go fast over 6 weeks, makes a suggestion of vegan/vegetarian a couple days a week as it promotes weightloss. Her book is for those of us who have a holiday coming up/wish to get off a plateau etc. It's a 6 week "up the ante" program but after 6 weeks you revert back to your 5:2. So I was going to try practising her suggestion of 3/4 veg on a plate 1/4 meat/carbs today and see how I go. I have lots of fresh veg in the fridge and a curry is what my nose needs. I want to aim to stay under 1000 cals today to make up for my indulgent Wed.

So the aim is as follows:

2 eggs: 140, hunky dorys (155)
vegetable curry consisting of zucchini (50), mushrooms(8), onion natural yogurt (100), tinned tomatoes (25) and slim pasta (15)
Dinner: chichekn & veg curry and slim pasta again (250)

That would give my about 760 cals so enough room for some other picking which undoubtedly I will do.

A note on mimi spencers new book. I'm only part of the way through but so far there has been nothing that I didn't already know. What it has done is hardened my resolve by hearing someone say "just say no" or have willpower etc. I am only about 10% through the book according to kindle though and I know there are exercise things in there that she is suggestion - the HIIT so I will report on that.

I'm going to make some coconut bread today aswell to keep me from eating too much white bread.
