My Intermittent Fasting Journey

My progress on Intermittent Fasting will be posted here with updates on my weight being posted daily, and with updates on my waist size and body fat content being posted on a weekly basis on a Monday. My weigh-in day was a Monday but I will now be weighing in every day in order to keep everything on track, and I now fast on a Monday on most weeks (although that will often change depending upon my circumstances at that time). More information about my weight loss background and my goals for the future on intermittent fasting can be found on my first forum posting which can be seen by clicking here.

Day 106 - Fasting Day 30

Current Actual Weight: 70.3kg (11 stone 1 pound)
Current Trend Weight: 71.6kg (11 stone 4 pounds)

Now that I have my first week of 6:1 under my belt, I am now thinking of winding down my daily blog entries as it is becoming a bit more difficult to say anything that is different from what I have said already in previous blog entries, and saying the same things over and over again can get a bit repetitive and boring over time. I have had thoughts about reducing the frequency of these posts to once a week or possibly even once a month. However, there are often times outside of these periods when something important crops up which I might want to share. Because of that, I will probably end up writing a blog entry whenever this is the case, rather than having any set frequency or times for doing so.

If I don't post a blog entry for any particular day from now on, it will be because that day has gone more or less the same as the previous such days which means that there would be no point in repeating that again in another new blog entry, when the reader can just be referred back to the previous entry for that type of day. In any case, I will still continue to give summaries of my weight and other statistics for each week herein the weight maintenance section of this forum. Until now though, I have continued to give daily blog entries for the last week and the reason for that is to give an insight of what a typical 6:1 week is like for me. I have noticed 6:1 being mentioned a lot on this forum but until now, no-one on this forum has given any sort of detailed insight into what a typical 6:1 week is like and so, I wanted to the first person on this forum to give such an insight.

That doesn't mean that everyone else's experience will be the same as mines. Everyone has their own way of dealing with a 6:1 regime and so, everyone's experience of that will be different and unique to them. However, I have shared my own experience of that in order to give a typical example of how a 6:1 regime can work, especially as I have also seen a lot of people who claim that this hasn't worked for them, or are struggling to make it work for them. Generally a 6:1 regime means that I am only fasting for one day per week instead of the usual two (which would be the case for a typical 5:2 regime). For me, that is when I get my biggest weight loss of the week. For the rest of the week, I will then maintain that weight until about Friday with some careful eating days, possibly even allowing myself to gain a little bit of weight on certain days to ensure that my weight remains at the level which it was at just after the previous fasting day. That way, I can then relax over the weekend, and allow my weight to go back up to where it was on the previous official Monday morning weekly weigh-in.

The end result of this is that I will hopefully, then be able to maintain the same weight on average over time. The other point of interest to this particular biog entry is the fact that this is the longest period of time that I have gone between fasting days under this WOL and so, I wanted to share whether or not that would make yesterday's fasting day either easier or harder than the previous fasting day. It turns out that yesterday's fasting day actually went not too badly and it seems that my body is now well adjusted for these fasting days, and is therefore well adapted for dealing with these fasting days, even when there is a longer time period between fasting days. That is also probably helped a bit by the fact that the weather isn't too cold here just now despite the fact that Sunday marked the beginning of the northern hemisphere meteorological winter (for those of you who are in the southern hemisphere, that is also the beginning of your meteorological summer although I have recently heard on the news, all about summer arriving early in parts of Australia with the various bush fires that happen so often in that location at this time of year).

That means that I haven't had the same carb cravings or hunger pangs that I have had on previous fasting days (whilst I'm on the subject of the weather, I have heard that we might get an Arctic blast towards the end of the week, so I'm not going to be complacent with that). I won't go over my yesterday's meal or exercise plan because that is the same as what it was a week ago and so for more details about that, I will now refer you to this blog entry for day 99 under this WOL. I will add though, that my sleeping pattern was fine although I was wakened from about 5am onwards this morning. When I weighed myself this morning, my weight had gone down by 1.8kg which was enough to set a new record for my lowest ever weight by just 0.1kg. The rest of the week will then probably continue in a similar vein to last week but since my weight on Monday morning was below my final target for weight maintenance, I know that I can afford to be slightly more relaxed about this week as even an overall weight gain of a pound throughout the week leading up to next Monday's official weekly weigh-in, will mean that I am still within my weight maintenance limits.
