My Intermittent Fasting Journey

My progress on Intermittent Fasting will be posted here with updates on my weight being posted daily, and with updates on my waist size and body fat content being posted on a weekly basis on a Monday. My weigh-in day was a Monday but I will now be weighing in every day in order to keep everything on track, and I now fast on a Monday on most weeks (although that will often change depending upon my circumstances at that time). More information about my weight loss background and my goals for the future on intermittent fasting can be found on my first forum posting which can be seen by clicking here.

Yesterday, I had a good gym session despite doing that on an empty stomach, but the blood pressure readings are really killing this WOL to the point that I'm really not feeling like continuing with it any more. Anyway, yesterday's gym session also tired out me quite a bit to the extent where I was then struggling to even stay awake during yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday's lunch consisted of a couple of pieces of pitta bread with some cold meat and salad. With that, I had a couple of wholemeal crackers with some soft cheese, a pear, a glass of milk and a biscuit. My afternoon snack then consisted of a small handful of nuts and another glass of milk. Although I felt a bit tired during much of yesterday afternoon, I did manage (albeit with a struggle) to do a little bit of housework.

For my evening meal, I then had a small piece of yellow fish with some stir-fry vegetables, some beetroot and a a small handful of pickled onions. For a dessert, I had the rest of my raspberries and blackberries with some Greek yoghurt. As a small snack before the end of my 8pm closure of my daily eating window, I then had another small pear washed down with a glass of wine.

My blood pressure readings had now become the most important readings, to the extent that I was no longer really bothered about what my weight would be this morning. Furthermore, I had noticed before that when I drunk alcohol, I had got a temporary reduction in blood pressure before that went up again. The re-introduction of some alcohol last night was therefore meant to provide such a reduction in blood pressure because by now, I just wanted to see some form of decent reading for that from somewhere, even if that showed only a temporary reduction in blood pressure.

However, the results both last night and this morning have once again showed that my blood pressure has once again refused to budge from the really high readings that I've been getting. To make matters worse, this has happened at the end of my last feeding day before a fasting day, where I should have been getting some of my best readings for that for the week. That is because a fasting day always brings a further increase in blood pressure due to the resulting increases in cortisol levels.

Sadly though, I have seen this movie being played so many times before with the same old outcome where my blood pressure just will not respond to any actions that I take to try to bring that down. I am now at the end of my tether with that and I'm really sick and tired of getting these really high results all the time for the blood pressure. Last night, I was reading another thread on this forum from a member who had just returned after going AWOL for a while.

This blood pressure has now driven me to the point where I now feel like going AWOL myself because it is now clear that in terms of my blood pressure at least, this WOL has just not worked for me and I really don't want to be continuing with anything which isn't working for me. Because of that, you may or may not hear from me after that and if you don't, I hope that you will understand why this is the case after reading this.

For the record, my recorded weight this morning is 73.1kg, which is up by 0.5kg from yesterday morning. With that, I really wouldn't want to think about what this morning's weight increase would be if I wasn't doing 16:8. However, the results for my weight don't mean a thing for me any more because of how my blood pressure has acted. Today is a fasting day, but I'm not really feeling like going through with that, and it is difficult to fast when your heart really isn't in it as is the case just now. Furthermore, I'm actually feeling a little bit hungry just now and that tells me this today's fasting day is not going to be an easy one to get through in any case.
