My Intermittent Fasting Journey

My progress on Intermittent Fasting will be posted here with updates on my weight being posted daily, and with updates on my waist size and body fat content being posted on a weekly basis on a Monday. My weigh-in day was a Monday but I will now be weighing in every day in order to keep everything on track, and I now fast on a Monday on most weeks (although that will often change depending upon my circumstances at that time). More information about my weight loss background and my goals for the future on intermittent fasting can be found on my first forum posting which can be seen by clicking here.

Day 96 - Feeding Day 68

Current Actual Weight: 71.5kg (11 stone 4 pounds)
Current Trend Weight: 72.4kg (11 stone 5 pounds)

With the concerns about the weekend ahead, it was important to ensure that I was very careful about what I was eating yesterday especially since that was also the first feeding day after a fasting day. However, yesterday was also a rest day from all of my gym and fitness activities. However, I did do additional walking which means that I would have expected to have burned a few more calories than what I did on my other rest day on Tuesday.

I started off with a breakfast of two scrambled eggs with two slices of bacon, a glass of milk and an apple. I then did some food shopping and ate a small piece of Austrian cheese as a morning snack. My lunch then consisted of two slices of ham with some salad, a mug of chicken soup and a glass of hot soup. I then had that appointment about voluntary work and the outcome of that is that I will be starting a new role on Wednesday 4 December 2013, where I will be developing a database system for a small charity.

I haven't worked since I was made redundant during 2011 from my last job, and I am now feeling much happier about the fact that I will now finally be able to contribute something to society and have an actual purpose to keeping up with my current health regime. I will be doing that job on Wednesdays and Fridays, and that will help me to take my mind away from the very poor food choices that I had a week ago, yesterday.

Anyway, I then had a small piece of white fish and some salad for my evening meal along with an apple. I also had a glass of milk with all of my meals and I had a cup of coffee with some milk at yesterday's meeting. Added to that, is the fact that I still managed to squeeze in a small handful of nuts as a late afternoon snack.

All in all, that wasn't a bad choice of food and was very low in carbs once again. The very fact that I did that extra walking centred around my meeting therefore meant that I was hopeful that the resulting weight gain might be smaller than what it was on Wednesday morning. However, I also haven't had any bowel movements since yesterday's weigh-in and that was to be the crucial factor at this morning's weigh-in which showed that my weight had gone up by 0.7kg from where it was yesterday.

There were some positives about that because this morning's results show that I am still at my lowest ever weight for after a feeding day, and my weight is actually slightly less than what it was after my first fasting day of this week. Yesterday, I was feeling confident that I would be able to achieve at Monday morning's next weekly official weigh-n that I would be able to achieve my long-term goal of being below 11 and a stone at a Monday morning weigh-in because yesterday's morning's weigh-in showed that I would need to gain five pounds or more by then for that to not be the case.

However, I have already gained back two of those pounds within the last 24 hours, and that is with careful and low carb eating. Furthermore, I can't be expected to be as careful all the time about what I am eating (otherwise this regime then just becomes too restrictive and pointless) and so, it is important to be able to have some time where I don't have to bother too much about what I am eating.

For me, a weekend is that time off and since I would now just need to gain three or more pounds by Monday morning in order to fail to achieve that goal of being below 11 and a half stone by then, I am no longer feeling as confident about achieving that goal as what I was yesterday morning.
