Big Drop Week

by rawkaren on 07 Dec 2013, 09:16

2lb's down this week. Happy dancing this morning AND I have now lost a whole stone since this WOE started. :victory: :victory: :victory: Seems like I have been in the desert of half pounds and plateau's for ages, so it's wonderful to see. What did I do differently?

My signature says ADF, but there were only 3 fasts in this week, so nothing different there.

TDEE and fast day allowances. Stuck with them as usual apart from one day (last Saturday). So nothing different there.

Carb count lower? Maybe, but my average over 90 days is around 110g, so this week is not that different, but dropped from Tuesday onward quite considerably. So possibly lots of water loss which would account for fat percentage not really moving:
Yesterday 38g
Thurs 16g
Weds 83g
Tues 31g
Mon 141g
Sun 25g
Sat (didn't count, but it would have been high)

Exercising less? Possibly. There were a couple of days I didn't do anything. Muscle holds water too.

Less alcohol? Ah yes. Saturday I drank plenty, but nothing since then.  I think this has also improved my deep sleep count, which according to Jawbone has improved by about an hour a night. Some nights now I'm getting 4.5 hours of deep sleep.

More steps: Absolutely. I have not hit the 10k a day number, but close on many days. This is different from previous weeks PLUS exercise.

So my conclusion is that I don't think its one thing, a combo of lots of tweaks.

Yesterday's calories 1149 (TDEE has reduced since today's loss so this is about 150 cals under)

Carbs 15% (38g)*
Fat 67% (79g)
Protein 18% (47g)

Breakfast Bulletproof coffee. 1 Christmas Morning Muffin foodies-f31/the-low-carb-festive-kitchen-t9875.html
Lunch Two coconut wraps stuffed with chicken, avocado, spring onions and cucumber
Snack 35g cheddar
4 walnut halves

*I'm going to give Dr. Perlmutter's protocol a go. The first four weeks carb count needs to be 40g per day or under and then you can go to 60g as 'maintenance'. Wow. I doubt I will be able to achieve that over the holiday's but there is no reason why I can't start.

Exercise yesterday was legs and back plus 9.2k steps and a truck load of housework!

Fast day today. I don't normally fast on a Saturday but I promised myself ADF and next week I think I will only be able to fast Monday and Friday.

I will be made up next week if I hit the 50's in kg's....

Well whatever the combination of what you've been doing seems to have done the trick Karen so congratulations on your loss this week. Good luck on trying Dr Perlmutter's regime a go, don't think I could lower my carb intake to such a low level but will be really interested to see how you get on. xx

Thanks Carol. Not sure how sustainable it will be and last time I tried I didn't feel great, but going to give it a whirl in the interests of research, which as you know, I like to do
