Day 139. First Post of 2014

by rawkaren on 06 Jan 2014, 20:24

Well it's not like me not to post regularly. So sorry. Happy New Year everyone!

Holiday's got in the way and it's so good to get back to normal today with a good old fashioned fast. Woke up with 'Carb Flu' this morning as I had a bit of a carb attack last night and a bit of a reaction to the gluten with water retention, fuzzy head, rhinitis, fat fingers and face. Most of it gone tonight though. Strictly speaking, its not carb flu as that is what you get when you first go low carb and the reactions kick in when switching to being more fat adapted.

Anyhow, it's just SO great to fast today. I last fasted on Boxing Day. I ended up getting the fast day announcement curse that many of us on this forum end up doing. You say you are 'in' on the thread and then go and you don't complete it. Like me. Yesterday.

Having said that, overall it's been a pretty abstemious holiday. Whilst we were away, I was Fast-5ing, which basically means eating only in a 5 hour window. So we ate out every day and I just ate once a day. Two courses plus a couple of glasses of wine. My jeans don't feel any different, but I know I'm loaded with water still.

I'm thinking about not weighing until Valentine's Day. Can't decide. In many ways, it will be quite exciting to see what happens by just holding firm to the way of eating and not be dictated to by the scales.

Today's calories 485
Carbs 27g (23%)
Fat 27g (51%)
Protein 31g (26%)

Breakfast. Bulletproof coffee
Lunch. Prawns in spicy tomato sauce, slim noodles. Diet jelly.

That will do.

Exercise has lapsed. I was two months into P90X and Christmas got in the way. I have kept up my steps though as being on holiday meant I could get out every day and do a good walk. The fine weather helped too! Today is an exception though, I'm only at 5000 steps. I could jump on the treadmill now, but I'm half watching the detox show on the TV, even though it's not very good!
