Day 70 Fast 21

by rawkaren on 29 Oct 2013, 14:25

Green sludge day today with extra kale which will take the calorie count up to 423 for the day. Extra kale to atone for yesterday's feed day which was all going rather well until I got bored with myself in the evening for not finding enough food to eat and I decided that I should not be under eating my TDEE.

Breakfast was carby,(75g) but I had not eaten since Sunday lunchtime (fast day) and had been training hard. I also had a tough yoga session to look forward to so did not want to wait until lunchtime. So the day looked like this:

Breakfast. Bulletproof coffee, banana bread (paleo), home made tea loaf, 1 banana (625 cals in total)
Lunch. Home made chicken tagine (304 cals)
Dinner. Garlic and cauliflower soup (72 cals)
Total 1000 calories and 433 under TDEE
Not hungry and bored with food but anxious about under eating.

Having just had my first telephone convo about "what are we doing for Christmas", I was inspired to try out a cocktail. And lo, an expresso martini was duly whipped up with a shot of potato vodka, a shot of salted caramel vodka, half shot of kahlua and a decaff expresso. Nice (bit sweet though). OH stuck with slimline dry ginger ale. Should have stopped there. I liked it so much I made another, promptly fell asleep by 8.30pm and woke up at 9.30pm 'hungry'. Cue 50g of peanuts (unroasted and unsalted).

Total damage on calories etc (will talk about alcohol unit damage in a moment).
Calories (1835) That's 402 calories over TDEE :curse: :curse:
Carbs 39%(140g). Cannot believe I'm still under 150g
Fat 45%(73g). In range
Protein 16%(59g). Just in range

Each martini weighed in at 253 calories, all counted as carbs (sugars). However the wicked thing is that on checking 'what is a unit of alcohol' this morning, I learned that 35ml is 1.4 units of alcohol. So effectively each martini contained 4 units of alcohol, as the cocktail shaker top measures large shots. I had EIGHT   No wonder I woke up at 3am this morning, tummy gurgling, (although that might have been something to do with sugar free gum) soaked in sweat, but strangely, no headache. I got up as normal at 6am with a blocked nose (that will be the wheat flour in the tea loaf), logged onto the forum and declared it was a green sludge day. So I'm feeling full of remorse and pretty shocked with myself. Not for overeating calories, but for the amount of alcohol consumed in one sitting. So there you have it. I think I don't need any more booze for the rest of this week and the cocktail shaker is back on the top shelf of the kitchen cupboard.

Gym session this afternoon is shoulders, arms and ab ripper x. Well I have enough fuel from yesterday to get through and didn't start drinking green sludge until about an hour ago.

Wow, you had a fun evening ! I don't like coffee however, it sounded a fab cocktail.

The vodka however does sound very interesting ! I am a G&T girl & Magners... oh and rose wine !

Enjoy your green sludge day !

How do you know which vodka is wheat free? I am trying to do wheat free and am interested in Paleo eating, so have switched from vodka to wine :)

Hi @Suoon2bthinner. Most vodka's are grain based, esp wheat or rye, although rye is a grass. I'm paleo friendly so have done a bit of research and some links below. Don't know where you are based, but I bought Chase potato vodka. Its expensive, but quite smooth and creamy. I fancied a change from wine. However the salted caramel vodka is wheat based..... :curse:

Thanks for the links- not cheap is it? I am in UK- maybe I will just stick with the wine- trying not to indulge on week days anyway , shame I make up for it at w/e! Am always amazed how many units are in each drink too,
Sue
