Fasting Distractions

by rawkaren on 06 Feb 2014, 05:08

I'm not doing very well at all. A couple of 16:8's but totally out of control with sugar. I'm now working in an office where there is free fruit, protein bars and chocolates always available.

I'm in the office by 7.30am in the morning and rarely out by 7.30pm at night. I need to remember to go out and walk and if I get totally distracted, I head to the kitchen and the distractions are in front of me and by 2pm in the afternoon, even if I don't feel hungry, I'm certainly tired. A few options:

Stay out of the kitchen completely which means avoiding tea and coffee and just drinking water all day.

Remember to go out and get something. However the cafe across the road is mostly sandwiches, and soup. However they do a small bowl of chilli which is nice, but then I'm not sure what to eat at night. Tonight it has been a salad and chocolate. Not a good combo.

Bring in my own food.

Help :curse: :curse: :curse:

There have to be some healthy options nearby. Try enlisting the help of the locals to find them. I'm sure if you ask "Where is the best place to get an awesome salad takeout?" they can point you in the right direction. Goodluck!

Are you kidding? You are doing fantastically well you have lost over 6kg! That means you already know how to do this, how to avoid this unwanted food and how to get back on track because you have already achieved so much! Come on, you are a strong person, Yes take your own food, prepare it with love and look forward to it because all those around you eating those free goodies will lose in the end. Come on Karen, beat that sugar - you know you can!

I know the feeling at work Karen - we have constant temptation - bowls of mini chocs, tins full of biscuits, people bringing in cakes ... hopefully there will be somewhere locally where you can get a healthy take-out or take something in. But make sure you don't get so hungry during the day that you end up just scranning something down. That's why I've always split my fast day by having a small snack at lunch time - I couldn't go all day leaving my meal until evening, on a day when I'm working, although I find I can when at home. You could try having one fast day on a weekend, then treat yourself on the other weekend day.

Take your own Karen. Make some soup or salad and chuck some protein in. You've got a lot to deal with at the moment, your food choices are usually spot on so maybe a mini break will not hurt.

I was out yesterday at the new job and was tempted to have the hot chips at the canteen and then I noticed the salads and the lovely lady made me a fresh Greek salad. It was just what I needed. Find that good spot which makes the kind of healthy food you crave. You will find your way back am sure you are just settling in
