Still Stalling

by rawkaren on 13 Feb 2014, 04:38

I have still not fasted. It's now two weeks since my last fast and I'm getting irritated with myself. I'm just about 16:8, but with no scales its hard to judge how much I have gained. So a combination of going back to high carb and no fasting is bound to have had an impact.

Today I order a Withings scale to try and re-motivate/shock me back into getting into a fasting routine. I'm still only a couple weeks into the new job in a new country, so I suppose I should give myself some space. Still, I really do need to get a grip because I know I'm undoing my hard work.

Just cut yourself some slack Karen, you've achieved an incredible amount in such a short time so it's no wonder if your usual healthy eating habits have slid a tiny bit. You are still settling in to your new life so take things easy on yourself and stop beating yourself up about a few missed fasts! You'll soon be back in the swing of things with renewed vigour when you are ready! xx

Thanks Carol. I'm going to have a go today. I have some miso to take to work in case of hunger pangs. BTW I can't believe how low your weight is now - take care!

Hope the scale provides the motivation you are hoping for. In the meantime, keep up the good work with 16:8 and enjoy that fast today. (Well, as much as possible.)

Good luck Karen! I'm sure your focus will soon bounce back. You've had so much to sort out, maybe the fasting would have made life a but too hard to cope with.

Agree with Callyanna and Caroline - you are beating yourself up Karen. I know it must be partly a run-off from work as well, as it sounds like a lot has been piled on you very quickly! Also you have such high standards and expectations of yourself (I sympathise so much with that, I have the same thing, and it has taken a lifetime to learn to deal with it!) My first boss, who read me very well, gave me a very good piece of advice 'don't try too hard' - and it worked then, and still does now. It's counter-intuitive, so hard to do (!) but worth it as it breaks that pressure thing you put yourself under. Why not give yourself a break of a week, don't go into work hungry, and don't work hungry. Take in your own food if you don't want to eat what's available. But it's important you feel comfortable, and don't get desperate for food. If you're working that late, it's probably worth having main meal (ready meal or something from across the road?) at work, and having a snack at home. Hope this helps xxx
