Thank you and some news from me

by rawkaren on 12 Jan 2014, 09:17

Second blog posting of the day. I did my grumpy post this morning before I had read I had won the blogging award here. So now you have all cheered me up    Thank you so much to those who follow me and just for reading. At least it is not blogging into cyberspace. It started out as self therapy, but I have really enjoyed the interaction from people here.

Anyway, some of you know this via PM, but the reason I have not been blogging as frequently in the past few weeks is that I have landed a job in San Francisco Bay Area. I'm scared stiff - the job, the move, the upheaval. But an opportunity of a lifetime. I have no idea how long it will last, but I have decided to live true to my signature. I leave Blighty next Sunday and start the new job on 3 Feb.

I have started a blog about it for family and friends (of which I count you all). If you want to follow my Californian story in addition to my fasting story, please do PM me and I will send you the link.

Thanks again

Congratulations once again on your award for the best blogger on this forum (I try to do the best I can with my own blog posts on this forum, but I don't think my blog entries could ever be in the same class as yours). Secondly, I hope that your American adventure goes well for you. The good thing about this forum is that it has members from all over the world with many of those based in America.

That means that you should be equally as much at home in that regard, on that side of the pond as what you have been over here in the UK. I'm sure that you will also be able to teach the Americans a few things about bullet-proof coffee as well, when you are over there.
Hi, Rawkaren, San Francisco is a wonderful city, probably the most "European" of any American city I know!! You will have a great time, tho' the weather can be chilly and damp, even in summer.

We know a lot about 'bulletproof coffee' in the States too!!!!

Would love to follow your American exploits - maybe we can meet one of these days if you make it down to Southern Cal!!!!! :clover: :clover:
Your award is very well deserved Karen and I will follow your exploits in California with great interest as I've already said.
I know you'll have a lot on your plate(!) in the next few weeks but just wanted to mention a great book I've been reading which might give you some help re your bloating after your carb overload. It's 'The Coconut Diet' by Cherie Calbom and includes cleansing programmes which might be useful. Another book I bought recently with some fab recipes is 'The Everything Coconut Diet Cookbook' by Anji Sandage. Know you're a coconut lover so thought I'd mention them.

What exciting news! Congratulations rawkaren. I started a new job last autumn which was a big promotion for me and requires me to live away from home during the week, although still in the UK, and I was very nervous. However I agree completely with your signature so I went for it. I'm working hard but I really enjoy it. Good luck with your adventure.
Thank you @johncs2013, @lovemyparrot, @windsinger123 and @callyanna.

John you are right. What is so wonderful about this forum is that I don't have to say goodbye to people! When I move, we can still stay connected :like:

Parrot. I know OC reasonably well. I used to travel alot to Irvine, Laguna and Newport Beach. If I venture back to meet old friends, I will be sure to let you know!

One of the things I'm most looking forward to is experimenting with different types of food. I'm going to have so much choice on my doorstep its going to be fun trying new things. I will of course report in on my viewpoints.

Carol thanks so much for the book tip. The diet one looks interesting. I will see if I can get a copy before I go. I'm only planning on taking a couple of cookbooks with me - leaving the rest here. Hope I can manage.

Windsinger. I did have a choice of doing a weekly commute like you, but to be honest, it felt harder than this. Plus there was more travel to other locations on top, so I'm hoping I can get a routine going...

Thanks again everyone for your comments
