my weight loss and diet path..so far..

by tuna85 on 06 Aug 2013, 12:42

I'm turning 28 in August. I hope I'm "turning" less than 100 kilograms in September.
At 25 I got a job, still employed there. It's a great job, but it's an office job where I sit on my ass all day.
I was growing taller and taller since my high school and I topped at 193cm when I was 25 years old. Since then, I started to gain weight. Of course - lack of exercise, desk job, fast prepared food, etc. Since I wasn't growing anymore, that extra calories I've obtained with food were unnecessary and so my body decided to store them. Around my waist. Soon after I got a nice spare tire around my waist. Didn't look good.

But I was happy to see my classmates growing their own spare tires too :)

Last year, I've decided I will change my life style. I'm lucky I'm tall so being overweight doesn't look so bad on me.

I started jogging at first, but then I grew tired of snail running so I started running faster and sometimes uphill as well. My form increased and soon I was able to run a 10 kilometer run in under 50 minutes. Pretty nice result for as I was then overweight (more than 100 kg of body weight).

I started dieting too. I tried different diets, slow diets, fast diets. No diet worked. I even tried a 1200 calorie diet which I know it's too extreme for me, but still. I wanted results. I've tried a diet like this one: 1200 calorie diet. But fastest path is not always the right one. I hand braked my metabolism with the 1200 calorie diet and I had to recover from slow metabolism. I signed into a nearby gym and started weight lifting. I improved my metabolism to a level that I need to go to the toilette at least 2 times per day. Quite decent.

So I've joined weight lifting and running. Best mix there is. (or maybe swimming would be better, but I have no option to swim in my town, sadly). Since last year I've lost 8 kilograms - from 108kg to 100kg. Pretty nice. But then my progress stopped. I stopped losing weight (by losing weight I mean fat loss. I tend to keep my muscles intact by eating a lot of protein).
Now I need to find a proper diet for me, as my progress with fat loss is stalled. Maybe 5:2 diet will be a proper choice for me. Will see.
I love making changes to my diet and see how my body reacts. After all - at the end of the day you have to test everything on your own and see what your body thinks of your choice :)

So I did it!! September is here and I am at 99 kilograms (measured this morning with empty stomach :) ). My body fat percentage also dropped from 22% to 18% and I also gained some muscle mass. As far as diet goes, I mainly ate lean protein and quality fat (olive oil, hash oil). Carbohydrates are a must for me (I can't function without them). I ate about 1500 - 2000 calories per day (needed to count calories, which is a very dull task). BUt here I am now - and my new goal is 95 kilograms. But the problem is that now the winter is coming and we all know what this means. I need to make it trough December somehow :) But I have a gym yearly pass so I'll use it well ;)
At 97 kilograms now yeey
