Hello All,

Hope this post finds you well.

I'd like to update you on the results of my 6 week test run. First of all, some background info.

I do my fasts consecutively. No science behind it, It just makes sense to me that your body gets more out of it if it has more time to benefit from not having to digest so much food. Most of my fasting cycles lasted 56 -60 hours. I found that after a month, I didn't get real hungry on my fasting days and I lost the most powerful cravings. Some days I even had as few as 300 calories in the form of an almond-milk/cool-whip/ice smoothie. Some days I gorged on food. One day I drank eleven pints of my favorite lager. That's right, eleven. And it wasn't light beer.

At the end of my final fast,I was afraid to weigh in. When I finally looked at the numbers, I had lost 18 lbs. The next day, and I didn't overeat, I weighed again. The loss was 16 lbs. So I'm calling my total weight loss for the first six weeks 16 lbs.

Not bad. I'm into much of a new wardrobe...

Well Wednesdays fast went pretty well. I'm settling in nicely. Today, Thursday has been a normal day and I have eaten very healthily, but have felt a little hungry, to be expected I guess as body adjusts. I am thinking of keeping my calls down tomorrow, perhaps by not eating until later in the day. We shall see...I am happy with getting two good fasts under my belt for week one. And I am thinking ahead to week two already and planning fasts around work. I can always improve on what I am doing as time goes on. At the moment my main focus is getting used to fasting again and making it part of my life without over think it, which I am probably doing right now. I am finding the website a real encouragement and having my fasting buddies and this blog to hold me to account should help. I did weigh myself this morning and was 10.2 but as was day after fast not placing huge store on this. Well see where I am next Thursday. That will be a better time to tell, will have done four fasts by then.

I just finished my 8th fasting day (3 weeks in). The first 2 weeks I did a 4:3 fast and this past week switched to a 5:2 fast. I've lost a total of 7.5 pounds! I first saw the 5:2 diet on the Today Show/Good Morning America? I immediately downloaded the book and started with the diet the following day. I figured, "what do I have to lose but weight?" The results seem too good to be true and I keep thinking that some of this weight loss is water weight and am waiting for the scale to creep back up (but it hasn't yet). But the results in how my pants fit is no lie! Pants that used to be very snug around my waist are fitting normally now and some are even loose! Wow! I am so pleased with my results thus far. After reading posts from this forum, I see that a big weight loss initially is to be expected but the weight loss should slow down to about a pound per week. (Which is totally fine). I just cannot express how amazed and pleased I am! ...
