Thought about having cake but again told myself it is only one day so just had coffee. Have now had my meal and am full, no temptation to eat anything else. I realize not every day will be this easy but am pleased today was. Hopefully it will give me the strength for days when it is harder!
My new little rescued puppy has been coughing so I took him to the vet. He needed the next lot of vaccinations anyway. Turns out he has kennel cough! I have caught it early and it is not serious, just affecting the trachea. He is on antibiotics for 10 days with instructions to go back if the cough has not lessened in 5 days. Then he will need anti inflammatory tablets too. Am hoping it won't come to that. He is very bright in himself, playing and eating well. He has gained weight too, now 2.7kg! Bruno is over 40kg! Thankfully Bruno is fine.'; data[0]['blog_time'] = 'Mon, 21 Oct 2013 18:15:39 +0000'; data[1] = new Array(); data[1]['title'] = 'Fast day 1'; data[1]['url'] = 'https://forum.fastday.com/blog/Bigravity/fast_day_1_b-2141_sid-815f29a5e3449acee8c8a4d55f0b599c.html'; data[1]['url'] = 'https://forum.fastday.com/blog/Bigravity/fast_day_1_b-2141_sid-815f29a5e3449acee8c8a4d55f0b599c.html'; data[1]['username'] = 'Bigravity'; data[1]['blog_id'] = '2141'; data[1]['blog_message'] = 'My first fast day today. Been at work today so kept myself busy. So far I've had:

Breakfast
Water
Small portion of Special K (oats and honey) with semi skimmed milk (amazed at how tiny one 30g portion is, may have to convert to different cereal in future even for non fast days)
Cup of tea

Lunch
Apple
Water

Mid afternoon cup of tea

Tea: my husband has planned some veggie meal, and he's joining me. So nice not to cook on fast day.
Going to play tennis later so hoping that will distract me, then early night. Feeling a bit peckish at the moment but I'll survive!'; data[1]['blog_time'] = 'Mon, 06 Jan 2014 16:04:10 +0000'; data[2] = new Array(); data[2]['title'] = 'Day 9 Fast Day (5th Nov)'; data[2]['url'] = 'https://forum.fastday.com/blog/teddybear/day_9_fast_day_%285th_nov%29_b-3108_sid-815f29a5e3449acee8c8a4d55f0b599c.html'; data[2]['url'] = 'https://forum.fastday.com/blog/teddybear/day_9_fast_day_%285th_nov%29_b-3108_sid-815f29a5e3449acee8c8a4d55f0b599c.html'; data[2]['username'] = 'teddybear'; data[2]['blog_id'] = '3108'; data[2]['blog_message'] = 'Weight 8st 7.25

Ok, its the lowest I've been since I returned from hols. My lowest weight since being preggers has been 9s 5.75. So I need to get to 9st 4 before I will believe the trend will continue. Only 3lbs but I rarely lose more than .5/.75lbs a week so it could be slow. My interim goal of 9st 2 by 28th Nov is possibly achievable. It will be very tough.

Yesterday was easy and hard. I had full nights sleep which really helped. However, I also left for work at 630am and didn't get home til 8pm. In that time I stayed pretty good. It helped that I had an all day meeting but I did suffer with the cold. The day looked like this:

Bfast: coffee and tea
Lunch: Homemade tomato soup
Snack (6pm): chock rice cakes (140)
Dinner: Scallops in homemade tomato sauce, frozen veg and parmesan cheese. (234)

Total cals were 440, carbs 50. So my carbs are slightly out of control. Whats happening is that I'm getting ravenous and eating rice cakes but abstaining from fruit due to sugar content. Makes...

I'm considering continuing the effort until I'm at 203 pounds (2 below my goal) just as a way of creating some 'reserve'. As for revisions to my eating with a 'modified' 5:2, I'm thinking that I will adjust to a maintenance mode by making Tuesday and Thursday a 'light dinner' day, and making my breakfasts, lunches and snacks homogenous throughout the week. I'll make an effort to visit 5:2 forum to weigh in monthly ... so I expect I will always have the 5:2 mindset -- though without the weight loss (weight gain forgone is still weight loss, though, right?).

So how did I get to my sad state of affairs at 233 pounds a couple years ago? First, I did zero exercise. ZERO! Second, I ate arbitrary food -- hamburgers, pizza, fries, etc. Third, I entirely failed to weigh myself -- even monthly.

OK. I'm done with that. Never again will I be so neglectful.
So why keep on with the 5:2? 1 of 3 of my closest male relatives had heart surgery...

Liquids only until about 6.15pm, then a fresh Waitrose soup (360 cals, 4 of my 5 a day - very nice!)

It felt very good to be back in control. For I have been totally out of control lately, shutting my eyes to the consequences of over-eating...until I was forced to face up to the damage I've done to myself. Let's talk zips. How lovely is it not to struggle with them on a pair of jeans! That's how it used to be for me, but not right now. I am squeezing myself uncomfortably into size 14's (UK) because I don't want to admit how silly I've been. Ouch!

I'm not sure I'll ever understand why I have sabotaged myself. It was all going so well, yet I threw it all away and piled on 2 stone. What a twerp! I suppose all that matters is that I have now called a halt to it. When the next challenge starts, I will be there, as I need to hold myself accountable! Happily, I have a couple of events this year that I need to work towards (May & June)...
