october - december 2013
I stuck to 5:2 and saving all my calories for dinner. It had more or less become a habit. I also stuck to eating too much and too much crap on my feast days. My weight stuck to somewhere between 69,5 and 70 kg. Then I went to Thailand for about three weeks.

january - march 2014
When I came back from Thailand I first got back to 5:2, but soon after that got very tired of it. The fastdays were getting harder and the feastdays were getting worse. I started to gain weight very slowly. I tried changing to 6:1 and eating less and healthier on the days I was not fasting. I hardly succeeded and gained more weight. Sometimes I only fasted one day in two weeks.

E.g., I want to eat [my aunt's Christmas trifle] because [she's in her late 80s and increasingly frail and it's been part of our shared Christmas for most of my life and it's the only time of the year that I eat trifle].

I want to eat [my friend Robert's cantucci] because [I made them with him, sitting in his kitchen, while he told me stories].

I want to eat [Coventry God Cakes] because [my family prefers them to mince pies and it's our Christmas tradition and I'm going to bake them with some of our younger relatives so they learn how to do this].

In my head, this is less precious and pretentious than it reads. :o What that template won't encompass is eating holiday foods/Christmas cookies all day/every day.

So why am I doing this? A couple of reasons..
I watched the programme last year and so health reasons has to come first (or maybe weight loss is first priority)
I am the heaviest I've ever been (73.4kg) which is ok but now well into a size 14 and I don't want to get into a size 16. Middle age spread has well and truly started. I can't afford a new wardrobe

Sunday today so think I will start my first fast day on Tuesday. I play tennis on Mondays so don't want to faint on the court! If it rains tomorrow I will start tomorrow.

Need to plan my 500 calorie days now...]]>
