HI. Never done 5.2 diet before, and never done a blog before.
This should be interesting.
1st of April was my first day of 5.2 my fast day. I actually thought I did really well.
2nd day felt lousy after 2 hours of having breakfast.I was hoping to go out for a good walk instead I went to bed for 90mins.
I am up now having lunch, I will try to walk before I start feeling bad again.
I am not sure if other people see this blog?

Well i first heard about this way of eating through picking up the book at my nan's. Once i started to read the fast diet book i simply couldn't put it down. I read it cover to cover. And to me it made so MUCH sense. All of my life since a very small child i have struggled to eat breakfast. I was told constantly from others that breakfast is the most important meal of the day etc, and that my body would hold onto fat if it thought it was being starved etc.

Well although now overweight again, 2 years ago i lost a large amount of weight and got down to the smallest i'd been in my adult life, i did this simply eating what i wanted but only allowing mself to eat once a day for me this was in the evening. And it worked the weight fell off. But one thing led to another and the weight crept back on. I know what i did wrong started eating more often through depression when my husband sady died.

It worked for me not eating breakfast, lunch and just eating what i wanted at night. So i feel this...

So... I did my last fast day of 2013 on Dec 22 which explains why my lowest weight of the year (202.6) showed up Dec 23rd :)

We went out of town for Christmas and did the typical rounds of visiting. Scale was up to 204.8 by Dec 31st. Not bad. I thought a 2.2 pound gain was very respectable. New Years Eve we went to friends for a potluck. I was the designated driver so stuck to diet soda. But I did sample many of the treats. Jan 1st arrived and I weighed in at 211. YIKES! Must be mostly water weight right? Sadly the scale stuck around that mark for a few days.

Jan 6th I went back to work and back to my Mon/Thur fasting schedule. I'm also sick with a bad cold. Today is my second fast day this week and I'm home sick. I'm finding the fast tough going. I plan to go make myself some hearty soup when I finish this blog post.

I am looking forward to getting back on track, losing the Christmas weight,...

I have learnt a great deal from this WOE but most of all one thing stands out and that is this: if you don't fast you won't lose weight. Fasting gets your insulin levels down and it's this hormone that is paramount to your success. You raise insulin levels by eating foods which contain glucose or fructose and these raise your blood sugar levels: it's insulin's job to reduce these levels, because it's quite bad for you to have high blood sugar. If you exercise a lot then you are using up your blood glucose and this helps too. But.....if you're like me and hated exercise then fasting is the only way forward (it's very hard for very overweight people to exercise to begin with anyway!).

It is quite likely that if you've been overweight or obese for a long time your insulin levels have been high and it's insulin that makes you store fat. If you've been grazing a lot, bingeing or even just having three square meals a day you're insulin levels might have been sky high and your insulin has never...

Another successful week - YIPEE!!

I've lost another 1.3kg in the last week - and am so pleased as I thought it would start to slow a bit now. However, when I look back at my last week - although my feast days have been a bit out of control - my fast days have been good and I've upped my exercise levels considerably. My Charity Bike Ride is now less than 5 weeks away and I am doing some hard cycling sessions everyday so really my weight loss shouldn't be a surprise

I am a day later recording my stats this week as had to move the normal Monday fast day to Tuesday - as got guests.

Only 2.7kgs away from my first target weight and I really feel I can achieve this before I go on the charity ride - if I stick to the 5:2.
