Ok, so just back from a week in the west of Ireland where we ate out and stopped at lots of little coffee shops as the weather was pretty woeful. Stepped on the scales this morning and things are as I expected (you know what that means). Anyway, today is a new day and the start of a new week and so...onwards and upwards (or downwards I hope). In a way it is a bit of a relief, life felt a little out of control last week.
This serves as a bit of a pep talk for myself, so if any of you have any advice...I could do with the encouragement.

I started dieting after one of my sisters refused gastric surgery last year and instead she opted for healthy eating and exercise. (She lost a stone then put it and more back on. She started slimming world last week and lost 6lb!)

I used MFP and list 43lb before finding 5:2
It was actually two GPs who mentioned it to my husband and I was very sceptical. I've bought some kindle 5:2 books and started last Sunday.

Hasn't been hard so far. Lost 2lb last week, which isn't likely to be water as I'd lost 6lb in the previous 5 weeks.

The reason for coming to 5:2 is to learn a new way of eating I can work into my life which is sustainable long term. I want to have an occasional treat without the associated guilt!

Fingers crossed this works for me!

Second fast of the week today to repair holiday damage. Green smoothie:
2 cucumbers
Thumb of ginger
4 small apples
2 lemons
5 celery sticks
All pushed through the juicer and then blended with half a pack of lightly steamed kale. Tsp. of liquid chlorophyll also added and a tspn of moringa powder. Total calories 392. I make in the morning and keep in the fridge.

I tried this yesterday and it really took the edge of my appetite so I have deemed it good enough for a liquid fast. So much so I had to force myself to eat yesterday, only getting up to just over 1000 calories which is under my TDEE. (50g goats cheese, small handful of unsalted peanuts and a small glass of red). However given I have over eaten my TDEE for the past few weeks, I don't think this will do me any harm.

45% carbs
39% fat
15% protein

Current plan is 40/45/15

It's pouring with rain here this morning, so the daily walk will need to be on the treadmill. Off I go.

well- something different you might say!!! but the way I lok at it I am just getting ready for tomorrow- the smell all over the house is incredible and i probably wont be able to sleep because the bread and the cookies smell so nice but the good thing is- I did not succumb!!! Willpower is a fantastic thing and I am sooo proud of myself that I did not have any of my lovely baking- I CAN WAIT TILL TOMORROW!!
We had another quite horrendous work day- the weather is not on our side- stormy cold does not make for a good fast day but then what is a good fast day weatherwise???
It is all in the mind- and I am learning to switch off and just get on with it- as long as I can drink I am ok.
Weigh-in tomorrow!!! and then a weekend of visitors and munchies!!
