Hi, I joined up yesterday prior to the broadcast on SBS & had already had a light calorie intake so continued with a delicious meal from "I'm Counting UFO's blog" (lemony tuna with cabbage pasta).
Today I decided to start afresh & to properly count my calories so I'm really feeling virtuous! As I'd started yesterday 'ish', I had a cup of cooked brown rice porridge with a little rice milk, a dollop of nonfat Greek yogurt and a few dried apricots, sultanas & cranberries to keep me honest during the day. The same headache is now kicking in at 4.00pm, which is a few hours later than yesterday so am trying not to anticipate my dinner too much which is another meal I've garnered from "UFO's" blog ..using the remaining tuna from yesterday, I've made the tuna & chickpea patties which look wonderful, & so healthy. I picked some fresh basil to make a spoonful of basil mayo, & will also make a vietnamese style dipping sauce. Now, this is what I call fasting!...

I’m writing this as a record for myself really as I’m sure in years to come I’ll look back and really not remember the chain of events in the correct order.
Can’t believe it will be of any real interest to anyone else, but am leaving it open for viewing because anyone with a lot of weight to shed may find a bit of help/support from my ramblings!

The thought of going up to a size 20 and weighing 15 stone was – for me – a real questioning point about what I was doing to myself. My poor organs, how were they coping, how long would they last out – what on earth was I thinking...

I swam competitively through adolescence to the exclusion of almost all other activities. I was in college by the time I figured out that this had savaged my knees. They say low-impact exercise like swimming is ideal for people with knee injuries; well, it will also create very weak joints if it's not balanced with at least moderate-impact activity. I'm a great example--muscle strength is there, endurance is (was? I'm getting it back!) there, but my knees have always started a high-pitched keening when asked to jog more than a few blocks. I mostly did cycling classes through college and grad school--expensive and fairly limiting, but I wasn't in pain.

I married a runner. He was also a year-round high school athlete and has also gone out of shape the past few years, but he comes home from work most days and runs two miles to blow off some steam. The past few weeks I've been heading down to the high school track in the mornings, starting out with just that quarter mile, and he comes with...
