Greetings fellow strivers!

This morning is my fourth fast day - and with nice scale and waist results. I love the start of any "change" (as in diet or better a new Way of Living). I also know the great start is often followed by a more flat success curve and even stepping backwards. So this is the time to save some sunshine. While we all know this is as hard as finding the gold at the end of a rainbow, we can do actions to lift our mood and/or stiffen our resolve (on those not-so-great days). One of the things I find really helpful is reading and I would like to share two books with you. I have read them during the past year and find them worthy of recommending.

"The power of habit" by Charles Duhigg
It's about how the brain works and how we can intervene something Charles calls "the habit loop". As with many other things, once we realize how it works, it changes us. Some might find it a bit broad (talks about...

I have not blogged before, so all this is a bit new, but anyway...this week is somewhat odd, as we are doing different days. I am off to the Isle of Skye on Thursday, so am not wanting to drive for five hours while fasting. So normal Tuesday and Thursday are out, and it's Monday and Wednesday for this week. Oddness is compounded by the fact that I am really tired, having been woken up by some idiot being loud in the street at 3.30am :frown:

Wow, found that loads easier than the first fast day. Wasnt hungry until lunchtime and just had some WW tuna on crackers. Gorgeous weather probably helped with that though! Did the BBQ for dinner but just had a burger (no bap) and salad. No alcohol today, but dont mind cause I can have it tomorrow.

Mon. 5/14/13- Day 1, FAST, 143.5 lbs

Today was my first day on the diet. Yesterday I finished up my 30 day juice fast, and I decided to jump right in and make today my first fast day. I figured it would be easiest, since my body is used to fasting right now.

The day went great! In the morning, I made a big- and I mean BIG- pot of celery soup. I measured it out to be about 475 cals for the whole pot, and it made over FOURTEEN cups of soup. So I had that whenever I felt peckish through the day, and by dinnertime I still had 2 big bowlfuls left to eat. It was a great strategy, one I will repeat, maybe trying different soups.

My other strategy was to nap. I was getting hungry and crabby around mid-day, so I figured I'd get some sleep. A great way to use up a big chunk of the day, as well.

I am really, REALLY excited to eat "normally" tomorrow. It has been 41 days since I've been able to eat what I want through the day, and I'm especially looking forward to a dinner...

Weight : 8st 6.75

Well I can't say I am majorly surprised to be honest. I'm completely bloated and full of gas. My stomach feels very stretched and I seem to have gas that is just not leavnig my poor bulging belly. I don't believe that I am 8st 6.75- I am really hoping to hit 8st 4 next Friday morning. I am disappointed but what can you do. ?Yesterday was a fast day - with this gastrtitis fast days aren't difficult in that I have no ffod cravings as I have no appetite. I only really need to eat to ensure the acid doesn't get a chance to have a little party in my stomach. Yesterday my fast day went as follows:

8am-12pm 2 cups of tea
12pm: 165g quark (170), P2B Peanut Butter (45)
5pm: 2 pork loins (150), blue cheese (100), piece of bread ( 100),
5pm-8pm: ginger tea

Total : 565 - which isn't the worst. Carbs:

I was supposed to do a spin class but decided to give my body a rest- especially in anticipation of running 5k fast Sat morning. By last night, my tummy felt a lot better, first time...
