Hmm, I am getting confused with my days, but I didn't blog yesterday, so I must have 2 days to cover?? Should have put a day of the week against the number.

Re my last post, I felt fine the next day (yesterday?) after the mid evening snack.

Furthermore, I am pleased with myself after yesterday re my food management. I might ask Pernelle to give me a halo I think, for the challenge.

I had something very upsetting happen in the afternoon (won't go into details) and my usual reaction would be to have some chocolate.. But somehow I managed to keep focusing on my actual hunger and whether I really fancied the chocolate, which I didn't. So I didn't have any. Mini miracle. I did have some cottage cheese mid evening, but was happy with that decision. I did have some red wine too, but that was before dinner and I was happy with that decision too.

This morning I felt good about the choices I had made yesterday. (Salmon salad - lots of veg - with avocado, quinoa, sultanas and walnuts plus a slice...

I don't know about you but I was wondering the other day how, whilst the wind was blowing outside and the temperature had dipped, as a student I was happy to have a room in a shared house, my own little space that was easy to manage and control. It was warm and cosy and you knew exactly where you were and were able to get it looking just how you wanted it to, an accurate reflection of what your new found freedom meant to you and your values at that time.
Once I graduated and was catapulted in to the real world it's surprising how my requirements changed, especially when I started sharing my life with others and you know how that always goes, bedsit to flat, flat to small terrace, terrace to semi, semi to detached and so on with the previous small no longer big enough. The size of property had to expand to reflect my life at that time whilst all the time being a reflection of who I am.
These larger properties though require more maintenance, are harder to keep on top of with repairs and...

Hi everyone,

I am 5'4" tall, 64 years old, will be 65 in a couple of weeks, and I've been on the 5:2 WOE for about 6 weeks total. I have shed about 7 pounds (a more or less up and down fashion, losing and regaining the same pound multiple times :curse: ) as well as taking 2 inches off waist. I find it very easy to live with--the flexibility of shifting fast days as needed and knowing that any sort of deprivation is just until tomorrow keeps me on track. I'm not too tied to calorie watching except to keep it close on fast days.

One of my original reasons to try this WOL was to keep from going from pre-diabetes to type 2 and to keep from having to take a statin for cholesterol management. I am looking for better glucose and cholesterol numbers. I also want to lose weight because I know that will help on many fronts.

I eat a pretty healthy diet overall, but it's obviously taking some tweaking...

OK, I just did my last weekly weigh-in, and must admit I'm happy to be off my 2-week plateau, down to 190.8. But I am serious about NOT treating this like just another diet, and getting sucked into weight loss as being the main (or only) criteria of "success." For me, the only way to ensure this doesn't happen is to take the focus OFF of weight, and ON to making this a normal part of my everyday life.

Some of this is just common sense: My son and I went to a weekly farmer's market very close to home. Usually not a problem; except I was buying cherries at the stall next to the pizza oven...challenging on a light day! So, try to stay away from delicious food smells on light days. (I did notice I was particularly grumpy and more than usually tempted by inappropriate foods...but managed to keep my "fast"; thought how mad I'd be at myself if I gave in with only a few hours to go...plus, having to go through all those hours I'd already been through,...

must be the Saturday Fast! Unlike Indiana Jones I have failed to Fast and find that Grail - in fact after my Saturday I would be better off drawing a veil over the Grail

But today is another day and a Fast day at that, so for all who are Fasting today - good luck.

And thank you to Caroline for your lovely supportive message, the wee doggie comes from FreeSmileys.org, they have loads of them - I try not to go overboard Image But it can be very tempting!
