Have just started this diet and so far, after two fasting days, feel very good! Have read about people not losing weight and can only assume that they must be over eating the calories - until I started checking some calories myself and have been shocked to find that 100g of banana ranges from 95 - 136 calories on different calorie checker sites!!!!! So maybe this is the reason people are over eating their calories!!! Can anyone suggest a believable calorie checker?

Started on Sunday April 7th with the 5:2. Choose monday as my first fast day and of course work was extremely crazy and indavertently helped me with my fast as I was not able to get away for a break until 4:30 in the afternoon (shift started at 7am and ends at 7 pm). Quite a bit cranky by the end of the shift. Not sure if this was because of the fast or my lack of getting fellow coworkers to assist in giving me a break?

Onward and upward or shall I say weight downward.

Well, the "miseries/ mild depression" continued through the rest of the day yesterday, and I certainly used food hoping it would be a comfort - not that that worked, because I know it doesn't, I just felt bad about overeating and also had the discomfort of a distended belly to put up with!!! But that didn't stop me. I ate dinner when I didn't fancy it at all, because of all the afternoon snacking, and then continued to eat in the evening...

Instead of doing anything productive during the afternoon, I caught up with the TV series that we had missed on our 2 nights out during the week. That was okay, they were all very good shows.

I am not beating myself up over my eating behaviour though. It was only one day and generally I have been going okay. And I am aiming to have a fast day today, with my usual fast day rules - put off eating for as long as possible, but then have sufficient food so as to not go to bed hungry. Will see how I go.

Walked the dogs very late this morning,...

I weighed myself this morning and was a little bit surprised. I had gained even after a fast day. But I guess it's not surprising as I went out on the weekend and was still eating leftover Christmas goodies. I shall try to eat in a healthier way this week - and I'm also exercising. But making into the 140's might be a slightly ambitious goal for the Valentine's challenge. I'll weigh myself again on Fri and hopefully have a better result. I still feel very good about things and have no intention of not keeping at it. I know the alternative - and that's going up and up. Not an option for me anymore.

I'm not really meaning to blog every day, I'm sure the idea will rub off eventually. But sometimes I come across someone on here who had similar goals to me or their journey sounds fascinating but they don't blog so I can't get a full story on it. And I just think, I wish they did, so I can see I'm not alone in this. I'm not the only one with SO much weight to lose, with such a long time 'til goal date, not the only one without kids, not the only one just trying to at least get into a size 16! Never mind a size 12, 10, 8 etc (one day, maybe?)

Anyway, today was a feed day. Semi happy with the day. Yum brekky of egg and bacon sandwich (stoked that I no longer want BBQ sauce and cheese on these dang things). Not hungry for lunch but made cinnamon scrolls for hubby n me. Had two small ones. Had half of dinner coz I wasn't hungry (steak, mash, onions) then out to a craft group where I munch my way through handfuls of skittles. I don't even know why. I'm not mad keen on them (much more a savoury...
