I woke so damn angry this morning, lol. I think I'd fallen asleep around 12am, hubby came home around 2am then came to bed at 4.20am and I woke at 7.30am. Normally I could just try and sleep in some more, but I had to get myself and hubby up as we had a pest guy due at 8.30am. Anyway, long story, short, I was cranky when hubby woke me getting into bed at 4.20am and basically stayed cranky until about lunch time. I've just been so ridiculously tired for ages now. Well, really, I just every now and then have a week or so where I'm not tired. Maybe losing the weight will help? Or changing the amount and type of food I'm eating will? Something will, I'm sure. I don't think I have something like sleep apnea; fairly sure hubby would have noticed by now.

I did cut down on the amount of green tea I had yesterday, and today I haven't had any. Instead I had two lovely strong coffees :). But at least with those I...

I am 51 years old, pre-diabetic, plus have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and have been testing my blood sugar every day with a glucose meter for almost a year now.

When I was young and skinny (lo those 2-3 decades ago), I was hypoglycemic, and felt I had to constantly eat to avoid that. For some reason, I was never especially attracted to sugar as a way to control it - I always knew that I felt even worse an hour or two afterwards, so I would stick to eating a bag of nuts or a piece of cheese whenever I could.

Anyway, I've been on Metformin for about 5 years, doing Low-Carb (more or less strictly) for about 10 yrs, and yet I still only barely kept my blood sugars at 110-140. OK, but not great.

January 2, 2013, I added the 8 Hour Diet to my usual Low-Carb diet, and soon noticed my blood sugar levels were a much healthier 105-115 average - both fasting, and 2 hours post eating, even after eating something high carb which used to send my blood sugar soaring. And I lost about 6 lbs....

I have to admit I am inveterate jumper on scales every morning. How I admire those brave people who ignore them or only jump on once a week. Not me, I go into the bathroom and there they are, standing accusingly in between the loo and the sink. "Come on" they say "you just cannot resist me'. And nor can I.

Now these wicked scales can just give me my weight but with an extra click they can tell me a whole lot more nasty facts about my body. How much of me is water or bone or worse still, FAT! Now after many years these scales have me completely in their thrall. Weighing has to be done properly. First thing in the morning, after a pee and anything else, and in the nude. Bare feet of course or it couldn't put its nasty little electric current through me. Now in these last weeks of bitter cold I have refused going through the whole rigmarole and asked for just my weight - wearing socks.

Today it trapped me into going the whole way, water, bone, fat the lot. First it said...

Well I hate to say but weight watchers is working. 16lbs off and back in size 12. I am fully in control again. I need tighter control. I may come back to fasting once my weight is back where it should be to help me maintain.

Well,
My fast days this week went according to plan and now I'm hoping it won't go all pear shaped over the weekend, I have a kids birthday party, communion and christening so lots of deliciously unhealthy food thrown at me, and I'm no doubt going to have a good drink whilst on a girlie night out so there goes all my semi hard work.
On the upside, this weekend is a one off and next week I'm taking part in the Dublin mini marathon so it's all good!

Weight loss you will be my bitch! (please)
