I did stay on the wagon when we had visitors. I've continued to lose weight but with crazy variations. I've downloaded KenCC's smoothing software as I'm a happy weigher and it's fun. Libra app on Android.

Now down to the lightest I've been since 2001. Which is amazing, feeling strong and energetic. Was silly and attempted a forward roll at the warm-up last Wed and crunched my neck. Been sorted out by a good physio but less exercise for a couple of days. Couldn't do them when I was four, can't do them now...

I've decided from constant reading of the forum that there are various schools of thought about this diet, dependent on what people have done previously and how much control they want to feel. Rapidly coming to the conclusion that the path to weightloss is living in the minute, listening to the body and being mindful of food. Angsting really doesn't work and I think hinders progress...

Another fast day half way through. Finding it really easy today. We have friends arriving later for a couple of nights and I have to cook dinner this evening. Hubby has asked for roast! I did suggest salad but no! So will do a full roast but not have any potatoes myself. I have turkey escalopes so will have that with veg and a little gravy. They are bringing the pud which I hope to avoid. May have to have a small portion though. The female friend also follows 5:2 so hope she will understand. I will not have any alcohol either. This is another important landmark for me in managing fasting as part of normal life. This approach is working for me.

Well I have had my 2 fast days, still not that hungry, this heat doesn't help, or does depending on how you look at it!

One thing I love about the 5:2 is that I don't have to pay to join a club, buy special food or drink shakes or spend anything really, been on a lot of faddy diets, lord knows how much I've spent, got the book for this, that's it really, fab!

Whenever I eat a lot of carbs, I find that I not only get bloated, but also gain a lot of weight as the body needs to retain more water in order to process those carbs. At the same time, I will usually continue to feel even hungrier (if anything) which will usually serve to fuel that binge even further. Yesterday was an ideal candidate for that although the day began with a breakfast of two slices of bacon with scrambled eggs, which would suggest that this would not be the case.

However, I then met a friend for lunch and ate a meal which consisted of a chicken sandwich with some chips and some salad. That was therefore a meal which had quite a high carb content and with that, I felt as though I wanted to binge for the rest of the day. Had I stuck with my old ways, that would have resulted in me eating a lot of high sugar content snacks, and an evening meal with a high carb content. That in turn would no doubt have led to a fairly big weight gain due to water retention.

At that point though,...

Had a great day with friends to dinner. Did Hairy dieters crispy chicken and salad. All French so had fun with the language. For some reason I have woken up and cannot get back to sleep. As dog is in the kennel I can sit downstairs! We put him there as it was easier with so many guests. He is a very excitable Boxer/Mastiff. We will pick him up this morning.
All three cats have been in today but that may be because we have had thunderstorms as well as because Bruno was not here.
It has been a landmark day for me as it is the first time I have people round like this. My house is still in the process of being renovated and I feel embarrassed having it on show. I also do not have access to all my kitchen stuff as it is still packed away. It is not a problem for friends I have discovered so it is me who needs to change. Sunday I have an English family coming to dinner.
